Can’t agree with you on this at all. I think he was outstanding as would be his signing.

Anyone know what's story with Alby going forward ?.
heard short interview with him and he said he dosent know what future holds but that his contract ends on Nov 23.
With Murray,McCarthy ,Cronin, Casey and Stafford? Still on books as 9's it's hard to see contract being extended .
get the feeling he would love to stay and he is and has been a great addition but looks like his time could be up .

Seems like a good guy, and wish he was staying, if wonder whether we’d have had a stronger case if we hadn’t gone for McCarthy.

Have no idea whether he would be any good as a coach- one thing being an influential player- quite another to coach full time.

It reads from redcafes posts like he might know a thing or two about whose a good fella in and around the camp, good at mentoring etc

                    ;)

He might well be- as a senior player almost certainly, coach I don’t know- is it too specific a role to be financially justifiable (and yes I realise there are kicking coaches). Always hopes Strings might be brought back into the fold in similar (SH) role, and as with Alby perhaps, doing development/outreach as well as specific coaching role.

his time should be up. Casey Cronin etc have learnt plenty from him and need to be playing far more now. 5 is more than enough for the position. The younger guys should be playing far more now in pro14

he should, but we will be losing our form scrum-half.

shouldn't matter. Up to others to now step up

Of course it should matter. Players develop on different trajectories, and have different ceilings. Allowing, for simplicity sake, that Ably is at his best (it doesn’t matter), how would a player below that level currently suddenly become better because a player ahead of them leaves. Current ability or the aptitude/potential for being better isn’t a matter of opportunity or motivation.
