    • More line-out operators
    • More turnover specialists (Beirne and Cloete)
    • Another ball carrier in Arno Botha
    • Excellent passers of the ball in the backline (Carbery and Farrell)
    • Goal Kickers (Carbery and Neil Cronin)
    • Exciting youngsters (Boomer, Fineen, Nash, Coombes, SOC etc)

Undoubtedly we will have injuries, but at least we have more fellas with similar skillsets to choose from now than we had last year at this time.

Keep the key guys fit, which will be doubly monitored in a RWC year and we are a test for anyone in Europe.

I suppose every real fan anticipates the new season in a spirit of hope. I honestly believe we have more than ‘hope’ - recruitment has been excellent, and departures (Zebo aside, and I realise it’s arguable) have not diminished our starting side. Last year we won FA, but justifiably were in the top 4 of each competition. When you consider the injuries, massive demands on some players because of those injuries, and a fledgling and changing coaching set up, we did astonishingly well. That said, we were well short, especially of Leinster. While this is especially annoying- not being best on the island etc.- I think this year, players and coaching team bedded in, some great new acquisitions, allows us to step up from a more stable base. Semis in both competitions is status quo, I think we will be in at least one final- if not silverware. Onwards and upwards.

Don't think we were well short. Just a slip up at the wrong time.

Personally, I wish players, journalists and fans would stop using the hackneyed term "winning silverware". There are only two competitions, and they have names.

We were well beaten against Leinster in Thomond Park and we weren't at the races against Racing in the semi final. Once we're up against teams that do their homework and can execute then we struggled. It takes a huge effort for Munster to score. We can't seem to rack up quick scores against the better sides.

I hope and expect Felix and Co will remedy this.

And yet in international rugby you get one every time you beat Scotland. Hardly seems fair.

It is hackneyed because it is a useful way of referring to a range of competitions (ok in this case two) where winning any would be acceptable. I’d be very happy that a return to winning trophies would represent- I’d prefer HCup, but Pro14 would be a welcome advance.

Interesting interview with Robin Copeland I thought. Addresses the Munster mentality.

Robin Copeland opens up on the pressurised environment at Munster and looks forward to being himself at his new club Connacht.

Speaks volumes about his mentality. Plenty more time to spend on Instagram in Galway anyway.
"It’s not the team you support, it’s the club you should support. The team on the pitch will ebb and flow because that’s the nature of sport. No team has ever been successful decade on decade. The club has the history and that’s the passion you should have."

It's amazing how the framing of an article can make quotes mean different things. I read the same quotes in another article this morning and it was framed differently so that all of those quotes were all positive reflections on Munster and how competitive it was there and that was a good thing and he is using all of those lessons at his new club

To be honest I didn't take anything he said to be from a very negative place even reading the PA article. It's quite clear that Munster wasn't the right fit for him though. Not sure he had the ruthlessness to really push on here, but he will take a lot from it.

From the IT interview with Copeland (Wummiskey)
“I did a bit of hosting for the players awards at the end of the season. Just some Q and As, light banter between people. He came up to me and I was waiting for him to say, ‘Well done’ but he said, ‘Maybe get somebody else to do it next year’ so that says a lot about mine and Joe’s relationship.
