Thats the bit that bothers me most. Dominic Ryan with the greatest respect will not set the world on fire. Are we now at the stage that we have to mop up Leinster rejects? I wouldn't have him above what we have already, he can't bring us anything extra or better. So between Nucifora and Schmidt we are to be limited in our ambition and ability to recruit the best available. Might bas well give up so!
When Leinster were good they had three Munster rejects at their heart. If the purpose of Irish rugby is to produce the best national team, then placing Irish players in Irish teams makes sense irrespective of what 'academy' they came through.

Munster haven't had a top class hooker since Fla retired and , no disrespect to those playing now, wont have one for a while.
People often comment on overseas players blocking the way of younger players but you also forget a player of Moore's class coming in for maybe a 2 year deal also gives the young players the opportunity to learn from the best everyday in training.
The chance to sign one of the best players in the world in his position doesn't come around very often anymore for the Irish sides yet when one is happy and eager to come to Munster we get blocked. Joke!
Surely the IRFU should have shut this down from day 1 if this wasn't going to be given the green light instead of letting Munster even waste time speaking to the player.
It will be interesting to know who the openside player was they we are looking for. We are still trying to replace Wally...and struggling. Dom Ryan, no thanks.
Its an interesting point, We havent had a class hooker since flannery, who retired due to injury, and we then had varley, who retired due to injury, now we have sherry, who is constantly injured, and casey is injured at the moment isnt he,

so lets compare this to leinster and ulster,
Best never gets injured to the point that i dont even know who their backup is
Cronin and Strauss dont appear to be injured that often

So does it come down to bad training?

Real shame alright. He was really solid at either LH or hooker, very no nonsense, you always noticed extra stability when he came into the scrum.

If Scannell and O'Byrne being blocked is the reason Moore couldn't be signed, then I'll be very interested to see which provinces Nucifora moves them to when Sherry and Casey are fit...

Hopefully he's in town to put the finishing touches on a few contracts for Munster's existing players, never mind new ones.
