London Scottish v Munster 'A', British & Irish Cup Pool 3, Friday November 13th

    O'Driscoll Names Strong 'A' Side

Hooker Niall Scannell will captain Munster 'A' for tomorrow night's British & Irish Cup opener away to London Scottish with Head Coach Mick O'Driscoll featuring a mixture of experience and youth from the senior, academy and club ranks across the matchday squad.

The academy's Liam O'Connor and Uruguayan international Mario Sagario will start on either side ofScannell in the front row while the academy's Sean McCarthy is partnered by the returning Billy Holland in the second row. Holland will make his first provincial appearance after rehabbing a broken ankle sustained while representing Emerging Ireland during the summer's Tbilisi Cup.

In an all-senior back row Jordan Coghlan and Shane Buckley start at 6 and 8 respectively and new signingSean Doyle will line out in red for the first time when he starts at openside.

Just this week fly-half Bill Johnston joined the academy ranks and tomorrow's trip to London will see the Clonmel native make his first Munster 'A' appearance when he partners Duncan Williams in the half-backs.

Cian Bohane and Matt D'Arcy join forces in the midfield while Ronan O'Mahony and the academy'sStephen Fitzgerald take charge of the flanks with David Johnston completing a strong academy representation at full-back.

The mixture of experience and youth is again evident on the bench with O'Driscoll including a couple of emerging talents from the club game. Cork Constitution prop Brendan Quinlan is again included having featured for the province against Leinster 'A' in October while Cashel's Sean O'Connor is included in his first 'A' side.

Munster 'A': David Johnston; Stephen Fitzgerald, Matt D'Arcy, Cian Bohane, Ronan O'Mahony; Bill Johnston, Duncan Williams; Liam O'Connor, Niall Scannell - capt., Mario Sagario; Sean McCarthy, Billy Holland; Jordan Coghlan, Sean Doyle, Shane Buckley.

Replacements from: Kevin O'Byrne, Rory Burke, Brendan Quinlan, Sean O'Connor, Conor Oliver, Ben Kilkenny, Cathal Sheridan, Darren Sweetnam, Dan Goggin.

Interesting surprised to see O'Mahony and Sagario playing. I wonder if this means Munster expect to overturn the GVDH suspension or could we see Amorosino playing against Treviso.
"The PRO12 is our domestic league, it's what you earn your bread and butter from; it's what pays the bills. We need to broaden our emphasis and get an understanding in Irish rugby that the domestic league from now on is most important and that's what qualifies you now for Europe.'' Amorosino in the 23 Saturday I'd imagine. Nobody held back it seems.
Good mix of youth and experience there. If we can match them in the front row we've a chance

Great stuff! Even a short "who played well and how the scrum/breakdown/backline" went report afterwards would be brilliant

8 all at half time. Munster went 8 nil down early but pulled it back. Bill Johnston went off, Dan Goggin came on and score a try. Dave Johnston has missed his last two kicks. Seems like some excellent defense from London Scottish has kept them level.

Assume Dave is playing 10 now?

11 - 8 to Munster at a bitterly cold Richmond

London Scottish scrum penalty right at start then breakaway try in 1st 5 minutes. Munster been pretty much in control from there and continue to dominate. Scrum now in Munster favour and turned over a few since that 1st one

1 hour gone - London Scottish penalty for high tackle gets them out of own half and kick ahead to score try [13-11] - Munster now have line out on 5m line though

Johnston try & converted - finally break LS defence on own line

                      13 - 18 on 66 minutes - Doyle replaces
