Standard of Referees in Magners League

Is there any standard in place for referees in the Magners League?
The standard has been generally poor this season but the performance of David Changleng in the Ospreys vs Munster game on Saturday was truly baffling.
He seemed to make up handsignals on the spot when making decisions and had no apparent understanding of the breakdown and the scrum.
It was extremely frustrating to watch a match refereed with such ineptitude.
It got to the point where the players didnt have any idea where they stood, with David Quinlan in particular becoming increasingly annoyed by a series of inexplicable decisions against both teams.
The general refereeing standard in the League is worrying and seems only to be getting worse.

Who ?!?! Mate if you're going to moan about the technical performance of a match official I'd advise you to watch your own facts.

While I agree with your sentiments, and yes Changleng had a poor performance, the highlight of the poor officiating had to be the touchjudges missing the tapdance on Barry Murphy's head in the first half, followed by the suggested binning of DOC for stamping in the 2nd half when he was in fact at the bottom of a ruck

That stamp on Barry looked very bad at the time. Thankfully he was not seriously injured. To make things worse the ref done SFA about it, and proceeded to send Donners off just before HT. That ref should be relegated to schoolboy league. He is a disgrace to the SRU.

        my mistake. @@@@SPAN style="font-weight: bold;">Alan Quinlan@@@@/SPAN>.

In fairness, i would agree that the ref had very little help from his touch judges and the barry murphy incident was a disgrace.
The fact that they were welsh and he is scottish probably doesnt help. But the standard of Touch Judging comes under this topic as well.
The biggest thing is that it seems to be a general Magners League flaw.

Why he didn't bin Feddie in the first half as well for rucking a player after the whistle had obviuoslygone is also crazy. He saw the situation and how could he not think it warranted a yellow card? I was delighted but its just another example of his poor officiating.

He only reversed the penalty for the BM incidentonly because of pressure from Munster players, he also didn't have what it takes to give Donncha a yelloweven when his touch judge reccommemded itbecause it would have been his second yellow (he just wussed out he never caid to the other touch judge that it was cos Donncha was at the bottom of the ruck).

Not only is it frustrating for players and spectators but it actually lowers the standard of the game leaving it fall into an under fourteens match where one player is gettin the other back after he got him back cos his mate got him back in a ruck..................................

If you look at the match you would have to wonder what freddie had to do to get sin binned. It was one of the worst displays by officials I have seen.
                      Is it only a game?

Then DOC gets punished for Freddies indicipline cos of the pressure from the crowd and the osperys themselves

very hysterical .. not one of them has looked at the full incident at all.

Was very tempted to post a response to the one complaining about Shane Williams treatment from the munster players

Shane Williams should have gotten a lban himself a couple of seasons ago for making unfounded allegations of racism against Marcus Horan .. so unfounded that the supposed victim of the racist abuse wouldn't even back him up & the ERC citing committee felt the need to conclude not only was the their no proof of any racist comments, but in actuality that there had been no racist comments AT ALL ! PIty they couldn't have followed through on that and punished the accuser instead... that would've put a very fast stop to unfounded allegations being made by teams.

Shane williams should be happy to come out of any game facing munster players with all his limbs still attached.
