Nigels' Cup Draw, June 17th, Neuchatel.

"The draws for the composition of the pools for the 2015/16 European Rugby Champions Cup and the European Rugby Challenge Cup will take place in Neuchatel, Switzerland on Wednesday, 17 June."

We may be in Tier 2, not fully sure of how this is decided, but the tiers may be something like:

1 Glasgow, Northampton, Toulon, Clermont and Bath
2 Munster, Ospreys, Leicester, Toulouse and Saracens
3 Leinster, Exeter, Racing Metro, Ulster and Stade
4 Gloucester, Scarlets, Treviso, Oyonnax and Wasps

    Pure speculation of course!

Explained elsewhere, if we win on Saturday we are in Tier 1, if we lose, then we go into a draw with three other runner's up for the last 2 spots in tier one.

The AP has adopted the playoff winners as their top seeds now etc so something like this as things stand:

      Pot 1: Bath/Saracens, Munster/Glasgow, T14 PO Winner, 2 of (Glasgow/Munster, Bath/Saracens, T14 PO RU)
      Pot 2: 1 of (Glasgow/Munster, Bath/Saracens, T14 PO RU),Northampton, Ospreys, Best T14 PO SF, 1 of (Ulster,Leicester,Worst T14 PO SF)
Pot 3: 2 of (Ulster,Leicester,Worst T14 PO SF), Leinster, Exeter, Best T14 PO QF
Pot 4: Scarlets, Wasps, Treviso, Gloucester/Bordeaux, Worst T14 PO QF

The 3 seeds look decidedly difficult - would want Exeter

          A PRO12 side can't draw another PRO12 side in pots 1-3, i.e. Munster Pot 1, AP Team Pot 2, Pot 3 must be a Top 14 side.

I though Pro 12 sides can draw each other, but Pro 12 teams from the same country can't.

They can draw another PRO12 side from Pot 4, but from the first 3 pots.

Champions Cup Pool Draw key principles
              • The 20 clubs which have qualified on merit from the Aviva Premiership, Top 14 and Guinness PRO12 leagues, and/or the Champions Cup play-offs, will compete in the 2015/16 European Rugby Champions Cup in five pools of four.
              • The clubs are divided into four tiers based on their qualification position in their leagues. Tier 1 will contain the three league champions and two of the losing finalists from the leagues. This will be done by a draw in advance of the main pool draw.
              • Each pool will have at least one club from each of the three leagues.
              • Each of the five pools will have one club from each of the four tiers.
              • There will be no more than two clubs from the same league in a pool.
              • No pool will contain two PRO12 clubs from the same country.
              • Clubs from the same league will be kept apart until the allocation of the Tier 4 clubs.

Sure isn't that why we got Clermont this year.

They were due to go to another Pool but couldn't as there was another French side above them in that pool already and it was only draw 3.

Nigels' Cup Draw, June 17th, Neuchatel.

The draw will be much the same as last years. Four Tiers as follows:

Tier 1: Glasgow, Saracens, Stade Francais and two from Munster, Bath and Clermont.

Tier 2: The remaining team from Munster, Bath and Clermont The Ospreys, Northampton, Toulon and one from Leicester, Ulster and Toulouse

Tier 3: The two remaining teams from Leicester, Ulster and Toulouse, Leinster, Exeter and Racing metro 92.

Tier 4: Llanelli, Wasps, Oyonnax, Treviso, Bordeaux/Begles.

Last year, the league that did not supply a second Tier 1 team (France) supplied both the first and the fifth Tier 2 team. (Castres and Racing)

If this happens this year, there will be three possible configurations for the draw

Option 1, Munster and Bath drawn in Tier One:

Tier One: Saracens, Stade Francais, Glasgow, Munster and Bath.

Tier Two: Clermont, The Ospreys, Northampton, Toulon and Toulouse.

Tier Three: Leicester, Ulster, Leinster, Exeter and Racing.

Tier Four: Llanelli, Wasps, Oyonnax, Treviso and Bordeaux/Begles.

Option 2, Munster and Clermont in Tier One:

Tier One: Saracens, Stade Francais, Glasgow, Munster and Clermont.

Tier Two: Bath, The Ospreys, Northampton, Toulon and Leicester.

Tier Three: Ulster, Toulouse, Leinster, Exeter and Racing.

Tier Four: Llanelli, Wasps, Oyonnax, Treviso and Bordeaux/Begles.

Option 3: Clermont and Bath drawn in Tier One.

Tier One: Saracens, Stade Francais, Glasgow, Bath and Clermont.

Tier Two: Munster, The Ospreys, Northampton, Toulon and Ulster.

Tier Three: Leicester, Toulouse, Leinster, Exeter and Racing.

Tier 4: Llanelli, Wasps, Oyonnax, Treviso and Bordeaux/Begles.

Some good probability of playing some new sides and a few we haven't seen for a while - for this reason hope Bordeaux beat Glaws (nothing against Gloucestr), be good to get back to the banks of the Gironde.

heres hoping we avoid Toulon, Clermont and Sarries - and Glasgow on last nights viewing !

A separate draw is made, in advance of the main draw.
