Can't believe Munster have been drawn three English teams and not one in the south west!?!?

Such a fantastic competition. Everybody seems to buy into it and enjoy home and away trips.

A union owned and run competition of which the SRU don't want to be a part. Obviously Scottish rugby is too strong to be involved!?!?

This season has seen a change in the dates games are scheduled to be played. Scottish felt they would be worse off playing under the different dates as they felt by playing on the new dates it would adversely affect their premier domestic competition so pulled out.

Anyone have any idea why the dates have changed.

They can barely cobble together 2 pro teams up there to feed the national side. They struggle to make up the numbers to field 2 additional A teams, the poor sweaties.

                  Scottish rugby is fubar'd

Think saw somewhere that its to give the competition a better profile. Playing games on weekends of European cups meant games were very much over shadowed by those games. Slightly better chance of more coverage if not on European weekends

Four of the rounds still coincide though don't they? Is it going to increase or decrease pressure on the Irish squads?

Looking forward to walking across Old Deer Park to see Connacht v London Scottish. I have given up waiting for Munster A to get drawn against a team within stumbling distance of home.

I'm guessing it's because the final was happening slap-bang in the middle of the Championship play-offs.

To be honest I think that is a fair compromise, six weeks of competitive rugby could very well stand to the younger players as well. Nice mid winter trip to Jersey for Leinster supporters.

In the pool stages, the two games that don't clash with HEC weekends are Round 6 of the Pro12, week before nu-HEC starts and traditionally a weekend when Irish teams field strong squads, and the week after the Autumn Internationals when internationals are often rested. May stretch out some of the squads with a big international contingent as there's also a Pro12 game that weekend.

Quarter-finals clash with Round 6 of the nu-HEC, so no new issue there, semi-finals clash with Round 4 of the 6N when there's usually no Pro12 game and the final is on the weekend of the nu-HEC quarter-finals
