Played some damn fine games for us. Smashing footballer, cursed to be following in Wally's shoes to a huge extent. Did a fine job for Munster and wish him all the best with whatever comes next.

Best of luck to him. My stand-out memory of him funnily enough was of him dominating a league game against Ulster some time back, googling tells me that it was March 2008 and Doug Howlett scored his first Munster try the same game, it's hard to believe it's that long ago.

Nice article on Niall Ronan, who has just played two seasons of Gaelic football with St Colmkille's, culminating in a Meath county final win recently. Hanging up his GAA boots now, apparently.

"I don't believe in fairytales," O'Connell once told me, "even though it feels like I've been lucky enough to live through a few. However it ends, I'll feel lucky."
