Munster v Ospreys Saturday 2 Nov. KO 7.15pm

    OSPREYS (H)

    SAT 2ND NOV 13

    KO 19:15

Glasgow vanquished in their lair, next up is one of the Welsh Regions. After a week that tested the normally cordial relations between supporters of Irish and Welsh rugby, a mouth watering prospect at Thomond Park.

Munster weakened by injuries and perhaps IRFU player management, Ospreys now targeting the Pro12 after two losses in the HEC: the crunch.

Ospreys put 40 points on Dragons tonight. As ephileth posted on the Glasgow thread, Ospreys join Munster on 22 points. Two top of the table matches in successive weeks? Time for the 16th Man/Woman.

No guarantee that they'll be at full strength as well.

We need to win this one.

They've a deep squad. Spare players aplenty.

International lads won't be available will they? Player management program in place for the autumn series?

Earls and POC might be available as they didn't play tonight, Joe might want them to get 40mins or so or he might decide to wrap them in cotton woll.

With all the back-three players we have missing, we might see Sweetnam in this one.

With the negotiations on the new European cup making a difference to qualifying from the rabo, it's crucial that we continue to be the best placed Irish team, it's entirely possible that the 2 worst placed provinces don't qualify and we need to keep that in mind before its to late.

When an agreement is (hopefully) reached and qualification terms decided there could be a notable intensity increase in the importance of rabo games, we need to approach every rabo fixture now from two sides, that we want to win the league with a home semi, and ensure European rugby for next season

Hopefully they will hammer the fuk out of the ospreys for the desertion to the fancy new competition!

While I am all for a home semi (financial and logistical reasons) there is no need to panic over the change in qualification unless we really loss the plot. Last season we finished 6th which was our poorest finish since 06/07 and still would have qualified as third Irish team with 2 from Wales (Scarlets & Ospreys) + Gla + Trev. Mind you the qualifiers in 06/07 would not have included Munster as there were 3 Welsh teams & 2 Irish ahead of us. Can't let that happen again assuming new format is approved!

Sure the Ospreys' defection is understandable. I mean, its not like they ever came within an ass's roar of winning the HEC anyway. The last time they had a really decent season was 09 and, well, they learned the hard way in the QF. '10 was good as well if I remember, but still couldn't cut it for the knock-outs.
