    Ayatollah Pat gone!

Press officer Pat Geraghty leaves Munster

    16th Jul - 2013
    By Aidan Corr

    Moving on: Pat Geraghty, right

AN e-mail issued by Munster Rugby today has announced the departure of Pat Geraghty as press officer. A replacement has not yet been appointed.

Pat has been an integral part of the Munster set-up since joining in the early part of the new millennium and he will be missed by those who had dealings with him during his tenure.

Prior to joining Munster, he held a similar position with Leinster and he will be look back on a Munster association that was highlighted by the Heineken Cup successes in 2006 and 2008.

We wish him well in his future career and thank him for his co-operation during his years with Munster Rugby.

    Interesting.....

No replacement and no announcement re his next role.

    More cost-cutting?

This is like signing Dan Carter and David Pocock in one go.

Absolute farce he has been. His columns would make you cringe and our website was an embarrassment for years.

In comparison to the slick Leinster PR machine he has been nothing short of a waste of money and time.

As bad as he was on a PR front he was thought of very highly by the players, he looked after them well. His replacement if there is one has a relatively easy job in improving the website content, press releases etc, possibly a more difficult job on the players front.

At least he got a relatively decent photographic send-off unlike TOL...

But Pat's departure has not merited any comment on www.munsterrugby.ie.

                          Odd.

I kind of admired the idea in this day and age of having someone in charge of PR who could be as bristly as a hedgehog at best and downright hostile at worst.

                          Very Munster.
