    Munster kicking

Can someone please explain why ROG has to take every kick for the team.? Hasnt Earls and Zebo got great kicking ability from hand and can really hget distance. ROG kicking from hand today from penalty kicks to touch has been extremely poor. He gets no distance.

The onetime that murray passed to zebo for the clearance, he reached the halfway line. ROG was only making 10yds with penalties to touch.

Completely agree, we need to make much better use of the assets we have. If it's possible to have forwards receiving passes out on the wing, there's no reason why some of the kicks to touch can't be taken by e.g. Zebo/Earls/Jones et al even when ROG is on the field.
      Tis but a scratch.

At times sides have adopted an intelligent approach, e.g. left footer kicking on tight angle to right touchline - using Zebo's big boot for that would be ideal.

yeah but don't forget we'll be told Keatley would have kicked it over our try line then held back all our players while Sarries scored.

Well we now know that ROG's back was playing up which must go some way to explaining his poor kicking out of hand. But if his back is bad isn't that all the more reason for other options to be tried??

Yes - I don't think the back spasm can be blamed entirely. If it can then he was not well enough to start. It would be strange to have a condition that seriously inhibited kicking from hand while leaving kicking from the ground unhindered.

In the past couple of seasons we have only seen glimpses of how he used to be able to kick. Some of the kicking from hand on Saturday was terrible, off hand I can think of the penalty missing touch, the subsequent penalty to touch shortly afterward which made all of 6 yards, the horrible slice in the first half that made little to nothing, and of course the attempted drop out.

His kicking game out of hand wasn't at its best on Saturday but his place kicking was class to be fair. (& maybe that was what Conor George said saved us).

Munster need to start using Zebo as an alternative touch finder from deep in our territory. By lining up both you will dilute the charge and take pressure off Rog even if he is used. Zebo has loads of football and eats his spinach when line kicking. He's turning out to be a class act.

I guess if you're not using ROG for his kicking then what would you start him at all for? One of Murray's box kicks were massive - I think from our own 22 any penalties should be alternated between Murray and Zebo. Close in accuracy should be left to ROG at this point.
