My take on the babbling brook lads:

Sounds like an excellent signing, but do worry that:

      1. How much this will cost us. Financially is it smart.

      2. Should we be looking at developing our own academy a bit more. Nothing against bringing in top quality to bring on our own. And this looks like one of these. But are we looking outward a bit too much. Especially in non starting positions. The short term signing of Holloway, an example of this rather then give a guy like Sean O Connor some game time. Botha instead of Coombes etc. Alby a really good player but we Murray, McCarthy, Cronin and now a very promising Casey.

Having said that speil, looks like a very good player to be bringing in
"The PRO12 is our domestic league, it's what you earn your bread and butter from; it's what pays the bills. We need to broaden our emphasis and get an understanding in Irish rugby that the domestic league from now on is most important and that's what qualifies you now for Europe.'' It’s hard to see the players in SA earning major money, there are a wealth of players and stadiums are never full.

There was probably interest from France but our connections appear to have been key here. Nice bit of business, he is easily one of the better Boks players in that team.

I disagree-nothing against the guy- has been very useful for us and playing well this year, but I think Botha is well short of CJ, and ultimately reducing game time for JOD, Coombes, JOS, Fineen

Would be concerned about backrow balance and cover for CJ...JOD, POM, TB, Finneen, Jack OS all 6s....no natural number 8 emerging and no scope for an NIQ now
Isnt Hodnett and last years Ireland 20s 8 Munstermen.

Difficult balance - agree with you about Holloway, but I think that was just being very cautious, and about developing our academy, but that has been going very well recently. The problem is that with just home grown players we will never compete at the level we aspire to win at- and yet few of us want to lose that home grown spine. These are top class imports, with years left in them, rather than the decent but not quite that level type of guy we’ve recruited lately.

Anyone signed after December 31st 2017. Cloete, Marshall and Knox should all be IQ before the end of next year.

We need to be going all in on signing quality for the next few seasons to make the most of our core players being in their prime years. It's now or never for the likes of POM, Murray and Stander.

Our new signing is picked at 12 in the team of the World cup. We always wanted a world class centre and now we have one of the best in his prime.
Well done Munster and Rassie for arranging this

Ah, so that was Felix’s role...they are both playing in Japan at the moment- hope they have a nice relaxing year.

Marshall joined in October 2016, so recently became IQ'd.
