Well fair play to you if you can believe that (and nostalgically it is) - but it's not though sadly it's Irish Independent (which is not even an Irish Company anymore) Park.

I don’t know a single person who says ‘I’m off to Irish Independent Park for the match’

That's nostalgic for you! But I don't know a single media outfit that can refer to it anything other than Irish Independent Park - the name has been purchased - the name Musgrave Park doesn't exist anymore - except in the hearts and minds of true Cork Munster Supporters.

              You big drama queen.

It’s still Musgrave to most people and, by the way, the naming rights were sold for only 10 years, so it may well in fact be Musgrave Park again. It is entirely reversible.

Not just Cork people that love Musgrave Park......the vast vast majority of Munster supporters refer to it and hold it dear as Musgrave Park.
Having said that there seems to be one or two that dont buy into that.

Did you get that one "they dont buy into it" Thats a cracker.

Good pun early (7.14) in the morning! Yeah, I know , I go down and stay with friends for all the games in Musser/Muzzer (hard to know the spelling with the Cork accents!).

Soda Bread is right! We must not take an easy way out to find some much needed cash! I mean, even though Thomond is not named after a person, I don't think ??, it is a really important place name and if we change it, we risk forgetting where it is, conveniently right at that gate to the Kingdom of N. Munster - sort of like the way I forgot how to find that stupid big ugly stadium in Dublin now that I no longer go to Lansdowne Road.

The majority of people will call Thomond Park until they're dead, either out of habit or principle, or both. (D4 heads, "Too mint pork" will likely fade though) After the living attendees at the former are dead, it may then as a name fade in to the stuff of legend. Yes, more youngsters will likely never have a clue how to spell it properly, but that's seen all over this site anyway.

To me, honestly, a good bit of what I FEEL is, was, Thomond Park died when they did up the whole thing. As much as we've had our moments, some glorious atmospheres here and there, it's never really felt the same. All that space to admit all those rude, unsocialised, un cool, icky people. While we're at it, a simple general knowledge test should be administered before allowing any reduced entry, if and when. Oh, and dismantle that huge Popular Side and sell all we can for scrap. Must be a few bob in that. A few concrete terraces will probably do.

Yeah, but at leat we'd be able to tell the "true supporters" from the riff raff by judging them on the name they use!

Last time I checked, Munster didn't play in the 6N. CVC have already taken a stake in the Pro14, but the Irish, Scottish and Welsh TV market is tiny, so the TV money will never be as big as the English or French get. Therefore you make money in any way you can in order to compete with clubs from those countries.

And all that TV money goes to the IRFU rather than the provinces.

I'm well aware of that - but as people on hear keep reminding us - the IRFU is the paymaster of Munster Rugby. Munster Rugbys' share is dependent on the total income of the IRFU so the more the IRFU benefit from this deal (€75 million over the next 5 years) the better for Munster. After all, without the provincial players the IRFU doesn't exist.

The IRFU will fund the provinces up to a point. The provinces exist to provide players to the national team. Provincial success is secondary to that. This has been stated over and over again by Philip Browne. If we want to bring in the overseas players and the best coaches that will give us the extra edge to compete with the top French and English clubs (and Leinster), then we need to pay for it ourselves. We are lucky to have an outside benefactor currently paying towards/for the salaries of Snyman and De Allende, but we still run a large financial loss every season. The IRFU have repeatedly said that they won't cover this, therefore we need to increase our revenue streams.
