Mods- any change this could be on the front page? Really useful.

Should we look to cut some of the dead wood, with all due respect, the likes of Billy Holland, Darren O'Shea, Alex Wooton, Conor Oliver (maybe harshly included), etc. and look to give one or two more opportunities to young lads, for example at this stage I think Fineen is well and truly ready to replace Holland, HCup sub and Pro14. Use the bit of freed up cash then to make a really world class signing. I think that could really push us to the next level.

I'm surprised we haven't announced any big signings for next season given that it's a world cup year.

          Thanks for posting.

We are light at centre in terms of gamechangers. With Farrell relatively injury prone, hopefully we can sign a centre with pace and decent hands.

Limerick???? seriously that's less than 1/7th Limerick.
That's shocking and its not scoring points or trolling, why isn't Limerick producing as many players as it used to? are they all playing hurling? There are 65 players listed and 9 from Limerick, I think there might be more from Tipp (but haven't verified that)

By my count, Limerick born are:
Kilcoyne, Kelly, Murray, Cronin, Casey, Goggin, Earls, Nash and Phillips.

Dead right. A lot to do with all schools in Limerick city being public schools I believe. Not as much investment in coaching, S&C, etc or contact hours as in private / boarding schools, all the rest of the rugby schools are private. But definitely shouldn't be that big a disparity given the success of these schools in recent years.

Disappointing how only small number of players from certain counties and solely through youths rugby.

Munster Rugby is killing the Limerick club game. The Limerick clubs are losing those rugby intelligent passionate supporters to Club Munster. These are the supporters over the years that helped the Limerick club’s develop players with edge, passion, and a conveyer belt of young men with a massive sense of pride in their communities and clubs. The numbers of these supporters are falling each year and I reckon those hard edged players are falling with them. Also, you now have Academy players from Cork and other Counties playing with these Limerick clubs with little understanding of what once made Limerick a very hard place to come and win and diluting that hard Limerick rugby edge even further. Players are now hopping form club to club in Limerick which would be very rare before.
This is happening right across the province but seems to be having a bigger effect in Limerick at the moment. This is a disaster for Munster and Limerick rugby.

please, can we not turn this into a cork vs Limerick pissing contest. It might amuse some of us, for a while, but we distract ourselves from the bigger picture. The data are interesting and revealing- but let’s first confirm that they are true (I’m not doubting them, just seeking confirmation)- and then stick them on the front page.

There are larger issues, club vs school, Cork/Limerick vs other areas (apologies if that upsets anyone/ not meant to), age/level of retained players vs opportunities for younger guys, etc etc. please let’s discuss these like fans of the game, of Munster, and whatever’s other loyalties we have in that order. We are not just fans, we are stakeholders.

That’s pretty damming for limerick underage/schools rugby. I’m heavily involved in a limerick club and north munster affairs and i can tell you it will only get worse if the relevant heads in youth/schools are not knocked together soon.
