AIL is worthwhile and very much so but when people say save the national league/AIL reminising of what it was in the 90s/early 00s its not going to go that way.
Not sure I understand what points you are making but if you're saying that the gulf between pro and AIL rugby has grown then no one would disagree. But by coincidence there's an excellent article by Donal Lenihan in de paper today about it. There's a nice insight too into how The Dunc is winding down his career.

I like what I've seen of Kelly, O'Connor, Hodnett and Flannery. I think they've potential.

Didn't see anything from Scannell or Phillips that stands out. Phillips might get in with McCarthy leaving.

Academy intake to be confirmed soon - any surprises likely? Flannery, hodnett and possibly Kelly & O’Connor will be offered a space.

I thought that Scannell might get in (possibly at Clarke’s expense), but no major surprises otherwise.

Do you believe nobody is losing their contract this year? There were a good few released last year

McCarthy left, wouldn't be shocked if Alan Tynan did too.

According to a source in France Billy Scannell would have signed for Biarritz.
Good things happen to those who wait, though mostly much too late.

interesting if true, he failed to make the grade at munster and is giving it a shot in france, like several others have recently.. none have made much of an impression though..

Calling out a 19 year old as having failed to make the grade is a strange one to be honest. He was Ireland u19's starting hooker before his injury back at the start of the year and was very much in our plans. Hopefully he comes back in a couple of years ready to step up for us.

He'll have lots of company over there with Dave o'Callaghan and Hart.

Best of luck to him. Who knows, we may be signing him back as an established player in years to come.

That would be my thoughts also- he comes back a better player having been able to get more playing time vs staying with us.
