Raking of Ian Dowling

what was the story with the raking?

Who was it? Are they being brought to answer for it? How did the linesman/ref not see it?

It looked like Ian couldn't get out of the way and got it in the face and neck. Could have been nasty.

Are you referring to the raking incidentby the Kiwi backpacker in the second half down by the corner of the East/North Terrace. That guy has been shown to be out of his depth many a time, and I'm not sure whether it was Dowling who he caught that time, but there was sustained raking by Jowittright in front of me. Pity he has to resort to that. Reckon its time for him to get the backpack out of the closet again, because he is not much of a rugby player.Should go to Goa or Bali perhaps and try to convince the gullible that he was once a top notch Super 14 player.

I think MACK might be referring to the raking Dowling got at about the half-way line, 10 yards in from the sideline on the West-Terrace. Led to believe it was an Ex-Munster 2nd rower apparently. Haven't had a chance to catch the replay of the game, but it was nothing short of horrific, very intentional, he was in no way obstructing the release of the ball.

It made Quinny's 'stamp' look like a tickle of a feather, this lad went dancing on Dowling's face. But did Dowling make a song and dance about it to the linesman? Certainly did not, jumped up and was one of the first-up tacklers for the follow-on attack by the Ladies, and was like a Bulldog fighting for the ball.

As I've been saying since I saw the incident, a braver player we could not wish for, so Bula Bós for Ian Dowling!!!

Dowling did ask the ref if he had seen anything after he received treatment for the awful stamping he got. Ref replied he was sorry he hadn't.

Surprisingly few comments about this. It was brutal. I posted on the Munster V Leinster thread. Think it probably was a former Munster player. ( am not allowed back to the TV watch the skyplus recording as Darts..... are on! FFS ) Hope whoever it was couldn't see what he was doing because it was very dangerous. There will undoubtably be a citing.

I didn't see what happened, but if it's as bad as it sounds than I can't really see anything else happening.

Have there ever really been citings in the aftermath of inter-pros?

Or in the Magners League in general? Was it picked up by Setanta's cameras? If it wasn't thats it, nothing more can be done
Girlfriend\'s English Boss: That Gaelic Football you lot play is a bit mad isn\'t it?

Girlfriend: That\'s nothing, you should watch a game of hurling. Think hockey except the ball is harder, it flies around the place and the sticks have bits of metal on the end of them.

                    GEB: Woah, sounds dangerous.

GF: Yeah, you can understand why some lads wear helmets, sure people have died.

GEB: What, from being hit in the head?

GF: No, they were shot by the English.

There simply must be a citing.

                      Must be.

And a long suspension for the stamper.

And no tit-for tat citings either.

                      It was disgraceful.

I'm pretty sure that it was Frankie on the receiving end that time. A bit excessive, but nothing to get too upset about. I think Rog went to the linesman to query had he seen it shortly afterwards.

Agree with OD for a change. No matter what the history of citings in Inter-Pro's is.

I was pretty close to it and could see a stamping motion ut couldn't see the target. The linesman saw it told the player to stop but left it at that.

I didn't see thr dowling one at all - what stage of the game was it?
