Geneva

I don't know Geneva so any suggestions will be appreciated.

It would be a waste just going to Geneva for the game so we will probably stay there for a night or two.

Does anyone know much about the place? Is it nice? Expensive? Safe?

"This was the performance Ireland had been threatening all championship but had only managed to produce in fits and starts. Defeats at the hands of France and Wales had put paid to their title aspirations, never mind a Grand Slam, but yesterday’s emphatic 24-8 win shows that this is a team moving in the right direction."

Geneva is probably not the most entertaining town...

I strongly suggest Lyon, that's where I will be anyway.

Just for the fun, I looked up the temperature for Geneva for the same weekend last year.

                    January 13th 2006 - Min temp: -8C / Max temp: 0C

                    January 14th 2006 - Min temp: -5C / Max temp: -1C

                    January 15th 2006 - Min temp: -5C / Max temp: -1C

The average for that week (2006):

                    Min temp: -8C / Max temp: +2C

                    Could be a chilly one......

This picture was taken in Geneva on the shores of Lake Geneva. Brrrrrrr.

Geneva is nice and expensive and safe. Used to go there on
business in the 90s and it struck me as a city that looked something
like a Grace Kelly / Cary Grant movie, i.e. a fairly classy looking
                      joint.

I would much prefer Lyon as a base for Bourgoin but that's gone. [EDIT:
Lyon to Geneva is about a 2hr drive, so that may be a necessary choice for some].

Fans should be prepared for an expensive stay.

-8C? Jesus, the pitch could be rock hard. Any possibilities of safety issues?
