Coventry Arena Train Station is located on Ricoh Arena's doorstep. There is one two-carriage train per hour on matchdays going in either direction.

Hmm? Not sure if that’ll be enough carriages the Red Army.
Coming out from Brum maybe, but it’s a stop on trains coming in from Leicester/Nuneaton too.

He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck either, but a real duck that was actually lame. Maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.

I was looking at sail and rail. All options show a bus transfer for the last leg of the outward journey and first leg of the return journey that weekend.

Are there engineering works or station improvements that weekend in Coventry?

Yes glorob they tend to do major engineering works over Bank Holiday weekends and put on replacement bus services.

It’s actually on the Birmingham side , so approaching other than from West is ok

Saracens head coach Mark McCall on their win over Glasgow said:

"Alex Goode came in at fly-half and did a magnificent job. David Strettle did a great job off the bench. Liam Williams was great at full-back.

"To beat a team by that many points in a European quarter-final says you're not a bad team. If you take away the first and last minute, they don't have many points at all."
"There are a lot of points that we’ve left behind and this is with a young group. That probably tells you what they’re capable of and that they’re a very good side.

Probably next year or the year after next they will take some stopping"

Anthony Foley, May 2016. Axel RIP

The question in my mind is whether they will now fold, or get renewed focus for the remains PRO14 games. A home semi (and this avoiding Leinster in Dublin) is critical for us all. We had a tough encounter, Cardiff had a rest- Friday will be tough for us. For Glasgow, licking their wounds st home, an Ulster who need a result, almost got a spectacular win at the weekend. The next three weeks are massive.

Be careful regards the Arena train - its notorious for not running on matchdays (in fact I'm not sure it does for Wasps games but does "occasionally" for Sky Blues games)
Parking is also not the easiest - check out the Wasps website, as it usually has links to various parking options (schools (for charity) etc)
If driving also be aware that there's "average speed check" roadworks down that stretch of the M6 - and for some reason the area around Crawley services is notorious for accidents and subsequent traffic delays
On top of that its Easter so the roads will be chaos anyway and post Brexit the lorries will be backing up from Dover................

Flying into Southend Saturday morning, if anyone is driving from London I'd gladly chip in for petrol.
trains/buses are do-able but a mess due to engineering works that weekend

Great news on Saturday.....I live in Coventry and about 10 minutes from the ground. Just to update you on a few things
-Don't rely on the train to the Ricoh it's hit and miss and only runs hourly with a single carriage (wtf?---yes tell us about it!)
-Taxis are plentiful, more taxis than people in Coventry (it is the home of the black cab, they are made here)
-if you you don't have an Uber account yet, set one up before you arrive...they are just as plentiful and usually much cheaper
-should be plenty of hotels in town, I'd avoid the Britannia hotels (they are cheap and you'll find out why)
-there is likely to be a free (or at least cheap) shuttle bus from the railway station to the Ricoh laid on by the Ricoh/Wasps
-would recommend staying central....loads of pubs, bars and eating in town
-the best rugby pub by far is the Gatehouse Tavern, good choice of ales and food
-I wouldn't waste your time staying in B'ham and travelling in it's as far from the airport as Cov is...they don't understand rugby in B'ham and they talk strange
-Plenty of parking at the Ricoh and surrounding area (check the Wasps website or parkonmydrive.com)
-not many pubs nearby....any real ale fans Dhillons Brewery and Byatts Brewery are shorts walks away...else the Casino (part of the Ricoh complex) is open all day but suggest yu find a bar in town and make you way out
-I'm a Gloucester boy (there for the Miracle Match and again back last October) but will have my Munster mates with me for the weekend so want something to celebrate on thatSaturday night

I'll be checking in now and again, so if you want any recommendations or tips drop me a line. Also checking on my local putting on lunch and a coach if we can get enough interest...good luck to you on your travels...It'll be a great craic as always.
