Darren Clarke doesn’t come cheap, but Mick O’Dwyer sure does

A financial-services company recently decided to have a corporate day out at Druids Glen and inquired about hiring the services of the golfer Darren Clarke. That’d be €120,000 (£80,000) for the day, they were told. Lowering their sights, they wondered if Des Smyth, 53, who plays on the senior circuit, would be available. He would, for €35,000, the company was told.

That still being beyond the budget, they were offered Mick O’Dwyer, the football manager, for €1,500. Easily the best value, Sue’s guess is he’d also easily be the best company.

Kerry, Kildare, Laois and now Wicklow. Won a few All-Irelands for Kerry as both a player and a manager.

Yikes. Needless to say my GAA knowledge is pretty thin. Thanks Old Dog.

            That is obscene.
