I should also say that, on Mayweather's legacy, for his 50th pro-fight and his shot at beating Marciano's record he has chosen to fight against a kickboxer (or whatever) with no professional boxing experience and the defensive style of a drunken tramp. So maybe he doesn't care that much and could take a dive to create a trilogy.

Even a knockdown would be Mayweather's choice. In 49 professional fights the closest anyone has ever come is a leg wobble, and he's fought the best that 4 or 5 weight divisions could offer.

Best case scenario for McGregor: he lands a couple of big shots and rattles Mayweather, then goes on the offensive in the press as you have set out above. If enough money is on the table then you'd get Mayweather's interest.

I would love to see a copy of the contract that has been signed. Probably be more interesting than the fight.

Agreed. You'd have to think that there's something in there about McGregor keeping quiet on the domestic violence conviction. Otherwise he'd surely be all over the "50-0 if you count his wife" gags.

So, Frampton misses the weight by 1lb and so misses out on his end of the challenger eliminator. But to make things even more ****ed up, Guttierrez slips in his shower and suffers injuries which means he is unable to fight and so misses out on his shot at the title. You couldn't make this **** up.

Charles Farrell with a pretty brilliant analysis of the Mayweather / McGregor circus

"I wonder whether if at some level McGregor’s supporters are in denial about how entirely his usual fighting options will be unavailable to him in this fight. If McGregor were confined solely to boxing, Mayweather’s dad, Floyd Mayweather Sr., now 64 years old, would kick the **** out of him."

Whatever about what happened to Gutierrez it looks as if Frampton missed the weight to avoid a mandatory fight against an American guy called Gary Russell Jr who is, by all accounts, a tough customer. If Frampton only has two or three fights left then a fight against a tough American who wouldn't draw crowds isn't exactly appealing compared to a fight against Selby in Cardiff.

Wladimir Klitschko and Juan Manuel Marquez both hanging up the gloves. Two big losses to the sport.
