A simply amazing day's cricket at Newlands today!

Yesterday (first day) Australia reached 214/8 from 55 overs. Nothing particularly startling there. Then today they continued to 284 all out, including a superb 151 from captain Michael Clarke.

SA then started their reply and had got to 49/1 by lunch.

After lunch the mayhem began, as SA were bowled out for 96 in 25 overs.

Then the Aussies went in to bat again - and were shot out for 47 in 18 overs!!! (after being 21/9 at one point!)

So the Saffies need 236 to win - and by the close, they were 81/1.

In all, 23 wickets fell in one day - and 20 of these fell in two sessions - which is pretty unusual!

    'twas great watching though.

Amazing alright, I was watching Steyn yesterday morning, he could have had a hatful, the best since Curtley for pace and accuracy consistantly.

There is something unlikeable about Clarke (even more than your average aussie), but he was definitely playing a different game to everyone else yesterday.

.......... and this morning, South Africa cruised to a comprehensive 8 wicket trouncing of Team Convict. There were centuries for Amla (badly dropped off the last ball of yesterday's play) and Graeme Smith. Amazing game!

SA versus England is going to be some series (next summer I think) although don't think any of the games will make it into a fourth day let alone a fifth; should think there could be some fairly flat tracks prepared!! Anyone see anything of Finn in India? Starting to fulfil his potential and going to be a serious handful.

if they had lost I bet the saffies would blame Bryce Lawrence for their loss,

I read recently with alarm of the astounding number of cricketers, both pros and mere lovers of the pursuit (amateur players) that have taken their own lives. The dalymeal reported on it in the past week, or was it the stymes?

Good ending to the last test in the India v West Indies series. Shame that the WIndies couldn't pull off an improbale win. Home advantage is so key in modern Test Cricket - India being a case in point, vulnerable way yet capable of trouncing all at home.

Sehway hits 219 off 149 balls in one dayer v Windies. Twenty five 4s and seven 6s. Roach went for 88 off 10 overs, Russell for 63 off 9 and Pollard 65 also off 7. Be the hokey.
