Roy

I have to admit he's provedme wrong so far

ROY KEANE will be handed £25 million if Sunderland are promoted to the Premier League.

    By Ray Ryan

The Black Cats boss has been promised the transfer kitty by chairman Niall Quinn.

And Keane's former Manchester United team-mates John O'Shea and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are top targets. Spurs striker Robbie Keane, Celtic midfield man Thomas Gravesen and Liverpool forward Craig Bellamy are also on the hitlist.

Quinn has announced a new kit deal with Umbro and is looking to find new sponsors with Reg Vardy pulling out this year.

The Black Cats are also in negotiations to sign a multi-million pound deal with brewers Guinness.

A Sunderland source revealed: "Niall has been busy trying to tie up a few deals which will be of a massive benefit.

"He and his backers have promised Roy around £25m. They're serious about taking Sunderland to the top.

how well will he do in the premiership? my guess is upper mid table. Pretty much as well as reading are doing now.

In fairness, Keane and Quinn have worked wonders with Sunderland.

When Quinn was temporary manager didn't they lose 6 games on the trot at the start of the season, and they are now realistic challengers for promotion?

If they keep this up Sunderland will develop a significant Irish fanbase as Man U and Liverpool have lost a lot of their appeal, Finnan and O'Shea being the only Irish players with them ( how long for O'Shea with Man U?)

Hard to believe that Keane is showing all the signs of developing into a seriously good manager.

@@@@SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 8.5pt; COLOR: #4a4a4a; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana">I think Roy and Quinn have really done a great job. I do hope they get promoted, its great for the Irish to be seen in such a positive light in the Uk. However, Soccer is a fickle game and it only takes a few bad games to get knocked off that perch. They will need to spend a few £ if they get promoted to have any realistic chance of staying up. Having said that i would expects a lot of high class players would be interested in joining Roy in the Premiership.@@@@/SPAN>
