xbox 360

Got my two boys an xbox 360 for Xmas and would like to use it with a spare PC monitor that I have. Is this possible using the vga cable ? Was looking at the cable today and it has two additional plugs (sound I think) ...... but there's no where on the monitor to put them. Would that mean there would be no sound if I can't attach them to the monitor ? Any ideas for a technophobe ?

Yeah most monitors don't have speakers. If you have a stereo you can attach the cables to the aux socket in the back. I assume the 2 cables are red and black.

I have an Xbox 360, well i bought my young brothers it for christmas last year. For the multiplayer games which are best (the two call of Dutys and GEars of War) you need a big TV as i find they are so detailed it can be hard to actually make things out. A case of too much information. So best if you can to run it on a 28" and above, really if they haven't been watching anything in hi-def they won't notice it. They'll probably just be ecstatic they have a 360. Hope they enjoy it.

Going through my change jars, and reckon I might have enough for an Xbox 360 + HD tv, but is it crazy getting a HD television only for gaming (unless Chorus are going to surprise us all with a HD service in the new year...)

The guys in the Philips Shop on Academy Street will be doing a deal on a 32" LCD tv next week. The are one of the few tv's that I have seen that have twin HDMI connectors, which offer a good degree of future proofing.

Is there any point though in getting a 32" HD television? At that size, you hardly need the higher resolution.

Hi all I recently got a 37in Hd tv on pixmania.com it has the two HDMI sockets as well. They have them at reasonable enough prices.

Where the xbox360 is concerned it looks great on a HD tv and sky hd looks great as well.

Only prob for me is I'm wondering have I bought to early as HD has already moved to 1080p now (my tv can only display 1080i).

PC monitors I am also toldcan give a much better picture that a normal TV due to Its refresh rate soifyou don't want to spend all that money on a hd tv use the monitor and separate speakers.

That's what I'm trying to avoid too - buying now and only having to upgrade again in a year or two. I can't see them going past 1080p any time soon (unless we start buying 100"+ screens).

I think it'll be a long, long time before we see broadcasters here sending a 1080p signal; so unless you've a 1080p DVD player.
