    Lwr Mallow Street closed

Lower Mallow street in Limerick closed off, seems Riverpoint building suffering wind damage, traffic bad on Henry street

the crane there seems to be spinning out of control, just had a look and i wouldn't be surprised if it came down. Also, there appears to be more cladding coming off the River Point building.

is that the hole high up facing Henry Street? That's been there since last week, but i don't think they have had a chance to repair due to consistent high winds. I guess the engineers didn't get their wind-loading calculations correct at design stage.

Lovely flippin' weather. Street closed around 2pm AFAIK. Hope someone gets some footage of this. Sound scary. Wonder what the airports are like - missus & young lad off to Shannon to fly out in an hours time.

Good, thanks. They'll have the wind behind them all the way, 20 minutes to Edinburgh ?

Major traffic diversions are in place in Limerick city after gardaĆ and the fire serviceclosed a number of streets adjacent to Condell Bridgedue to high winds.

Panels from the Riverpoint construction site have blown onto Howleys Quayand the road has been closed.

Lower Mallow Street has also been closed as a precaution.

Motorists are being advised that there is no access to the Condell Bridge from the city centre, and no access to Henry Street or Howleys Quay from the bridge itself.

It's actually Shannon Bridge, not Condell Bridge (which does not exist) in case anyone is confused.

This congestion is due to the emergency road closure of Lower Mallow Street between Henry Street and the Shannon Bridge Roundabout.
