I really didn't like Darkest Hour. Yes, Gary Oldman's physical transformation to Churchill is extraordinary, but his performance had more ham in it than a packet of Galtee rashers. The script was rubbish as well.

I can see why Dunkirk would be a marmite movie for people. The story arc is all over the place and some of the acting is a bit underwhelming. However it's relentless as a movie, and the score is just awesome. The "tick tick tick" in the background just leaves you on the edge of your seat.

It's a pity I didn't get to see it in the cinema as I'd say it would have been fantastic on a big screen.
I saw it on the big screen and it was very good but really it needed a lot more cgi to make the numbers of troops needing evacuation look realistic as well as the numbers of ships and boats picking them up, it looked more like what I'd imagine the kinsale regatta would look like.

Above comments relate to Dunkirk, I haven't seen Darkest Hour though I've heard good reviews of it apart from a PC scene on the tube which churchill apparently was never on in his life.

I want to see Michael Inside, but so far only listed with a small few venues. From the trailer, it is well worth a look.

Just saw this film. Compelling, but hard to watch. Excellent performances by the main characters, and technically very strong all round. In my opinion it deserves the excellent reviews it received.

My desert island DVDs. Movies you'd never tire of, because they have a bit of depth in script, cast, cinematography or a mixture of all three and something else besides.
