Congratulations

Just a little congratulaory note for the city/county engineer or road planner who decided the best way to alleviate traffic on the Ennis road between the Coonagh Roundabout and Ivan's Cross was to reduce the number of lanes from 4 to 2; Well Done. Next week when the kids are back to school should be fun

Drove it on Sunday and it was busy round there, despite the rest of the city being quiet. Is it to do with that new shopping centre?

Have to say Lk looked fab in the sunon Sunday - great strides being made. That was my first trip back since Xmas and I really noticed a difference in how well it looked, especially coming over the Whistling Bridge.

Onanother note, is that a new bridge being built out near the Cement factory?

its good planning, cos in 10 years when the tunnel is finished, people will be so fed up of taking 2 hours to get in from shannon, they'll gladly pay the toll

Insinelane inbound is a bus lane, no idea what the one on the outbound land is supposed to be, God help those trying to cross to the Southside on a Friday or going to work at 9.00

                  Fitzy,hope this answers your enquiry.

Phase 2 of the scheme will involve the construction of dual carriageway of approximately the same length (9.75 kms) which will connect the end of the Phase 1 N7 at Rathbane with the N20 Cork/Tralee road and then via a causeway across Bunlicky Lake and then crossing the Shannon via 900m of tunnel and then running through Coonagh along the north bank of the Shannon to meet up with the N18 near Cratloe Castle. This phase is currently awaiting approval and it is envisaged that archaeological survey work and compulsory purchase orders will follow in the near future.

The above is from Whelan Group website but is a bit out of date now as the work is well under way.

Thanks AG - I knew there were consultations about a tunnel but didn't realise it had actually started. Makes my journey to West Limerick a lot better in the future.

But you will have to pay a toll in addition to your motor tax. If the government are going down the toll route, then motor tax should be abolished.

I'd say don't hold your breath, but if the Government saw that it was becoming a popular option, they'd find a way to tax it, so say nathin'...

Travel that way everyday and have yet to see a bus, have seen plenty of cars though and most of them turning into Caherdavin to avoid the traffic. Will cause chaos in there and imho will be extremely dangerous ,particulary around the side of Greenhills next to the football pitch.
