Believe she is self isolating as her kids go to the first school closed by COVID-19. Maybe being responsible..................

Hopefully she didn't get it, but Mary Lou went into self-isolation on March 2nd. She is a few days past the normal 14 days by now

And on radio stations and in tabs- saying how much she wanted to be in government at these trying times....I thought the parliamentary party had gone into isolation with the army council...

Dont often watch the muck that is rte news but happened to catch the segment on the junior cert and some of fine gaels joe mchugh's press conference.

The man stuttered his way through it and is seriously out of his depth. Do fine gael happen to have any halfway competent ministers?

Says a lot about Fine gaels priorities when you look at the speed in which the private hospital deal was set up, versus the slow pace of providing childcare for essential health workers families.
Millions for larry goodman, denis o'brien, bon secours, vulture funds etc.
Claps and wall murals for nurses, doctors and paramedics.

The estimated €115 million that the State will pay each month to use 18 private hospitals during the Covid-19 crisis will go to companies owned by religious orders, foreign investors, two billionaires, a vulture fund and private backers.

The priority is ensuring sufficient bed space in the event of a New York style pressure on the health service. Saving lives is important. I can only imagine what you would be posting if people weren’t able to access ICU beds. But I guess you are more interested in a cheap shot at FG. At least you are consistent in your blinkered vitriol.

If these people own the Hospitals they are entitled to rent from the State, what would you have the Govt do - nationalise them for the duration and give them back in a few months.

Whilst I agree with the general thrust of the policy of ensuring adequate beds, nonetheless the lack of scrutiny of the complete takeover of the private hospitals, effectively closing down private healthcare overnight, is simply staggering imho.

Also, as it so happens we haven't actually needed the extra beds at all, so it seems money completely wasted? Why no questioning of this strategy now??

Then, also what about all the private consultations, procedures, surgeries and treatments that were cancelled due to this sudden takeover of the private system???

What about all the scans & preventive medicine that have not gone ahead because of the sudden reconfiguration of the health service. I mean is it that all these activities are so superfluous that we can do without them at no cost to people's health!? Then wtf did we ever have them!?

(Not to mind all the crucial medicine that is not being attended to e.g. chemotherapy sessions missed, minor heart attacks & strokes, etc not getting treated)

So now, we've ended up with the incompetent HSE managers effectively running the efficient parts of the health service I.e . The private healthcare system, and all of these massive changes being mandated & overseen by a committee of mandarins from the Dept of Health ( I.e.. the NPHET committee).

                            Now, that's some fluster cluck!?!

Just to bring you up to speed on the increased risks of corona virus spreading in co living blocks. I hope you haven't bought one of these things?

"A south London council has raised the alarm about the deadly health risks inherent from high-density tower blocks offering “co-living” accommodation, in light of the coronavirus pandemic and the need for social distancing.

The concerns aired in Wandsworth over a 263-room development in Battersea come just weeks after Croydon Council’s planners blithely waved through plans for a co-living tower four times the size, to be built on a site next to Croydon College.

Indeed, the co-living arrangements which have been granted approval in Croydon are reminiscent of student accommodation, or a hostel. Residents – or inmates – will have some private living space but share other amenities with their neighbours – the kind of arrangement which would make social distancing virtually impossible and which scientists have been warning against to avoid the spread of covid-19.

Fianna fails michael martin has described the cobbling together of a coalition government as a "pragmatic and rapid response" to the general election.

If 4 months is "rapid" in his book then there wont be any progress during his half term as taoiseach
