Thanks, on the recheck they found 2 extra votes for liadh and 1 for grace. That was looking at 200K votes

If I am correct, one of the interesting aspects of PRSTV is that transfers are done quite randomly from the top of the pile. Seemingly statistically it is reasonably sound.

The hope on a recount is that the randomness may yield a different result aside from errors.

This may may ask questions in terms of cost but please please don’t revisit electronic voting machines.

I appears that Bailey, far from looking only for medical expenses (€7,000 she said though she took the case to the circuit court which can award up to €60,000 rather than the district court which can award up to €15,000), warned the hotel that ongoing future treatment would require substantial compensation...........even though we now know she ran in a 10 Km race a few weeks after going arse over tit trying to hold 2 bottles of booze on the swing...................She has to be expelled from FG. She's making it easy for Leo to look hard on bogus claims.

Ive only seen it reported in one place, can’t find it now though, and very little was made of it but FG only have one vote to spare in the Dail and that’s including independents like lowery etc. So the loss of Maria Bailey leaves them no breathing space in Dail votes.

If suspended, would she bring the Gov down..............? that would shirley be the end of her political 'career'. Does that 1 vote you mention factor in TDs who have to resign to go to Europe? .........this is obviously why Leo is talking about a quick election.
If, as it looks that (1) It was her own fault she fell off the swing (2) There was no real injury and the eejit, like the most stupid druggie throwing themselves on a car and claiming life changing injuries, then she's politically toxic so she will have to be suspended. To try and salvage any hope of getting reelected (no chance I'd say, the Baileys are not Lowery and the only constituents they help are themselves) she might be cheap to buy off in supporting the Gov.

From memory, if suspended or removed from the party FG would be left with 56 votes and that’s the amount they need, so she might not bring down the party, but a rogue independent could.

Looks like Maria will find some sympathy from within her party....

Probably next year or the year after next they will take some stopping"

When reform for this does eventually come, (and that’s a big eventually because the legal profession will resist greatly any impact on their gravy train) it will be the legal profession that loses the most.

That claim is a pure joke, and the judge says as much, but then still awards 2.5k because an empty courtroom is no use to him and the solicitor, ultimately his colleague needs to get paid.

These characters are comfortably well off yet they feel the need to whore themselves around the courts to scrape together a few bob more. No doubt they were spluttering outrage when Callely was screwing the system sideways also.

When you look at the fillibustering that Mc Dowell is doing in the Seanad over the appointment of Judges, it will be a picnic compared to what him and his pals will get up to if more radical reform is tried.

In other news, the distribution of Ní Ríada's 98,248 votes has put Wallace 19,674 over the quota and has put O'Sullivan 4,202 ahead of Clune. 46,528 were non transferable.

Wallace's surplus will now be distributed.

I can't see Clune making up the deficit of 4,202, so O'sullivan will get the Champions' League seat with Clune going into the Europa League.

                            Gavan Reilly has a link.

                              O'Sullivan got 5,414 from Wallace's Surplus and Clune got 2,077. 12183 were non-transferable.

O'Sullivan was fourth by 7,539 and Clune fifth.

Good election for the greens. In some ways they may be better in local and europe. They get to set the agenda but not be associated with the next recession (which may be starting about October 31st). In local government they may be able to do more for cyclists, while in Europe they may be able to do more for the price of carbon and the inclusion of carbon pricing in air travel.
