For anyone who is interested in the facts rather than Major TNT's party political broadcasts

The note, prepared by the HSE's Acute Hospital Policy Unit 3, referred to the "growing public and political pressure in the Waterford region to build and staff an additional cath lab at the hospital".But the note continued with the view that providing additional facilities "in a geographical area which does not have the population base to justify such a service, would be wasteful of very limited resources".

It added: "Such a unit might struggle to achieve the levels of activity essential to maintain operator and unit competency, potentially compromising patient safety. Staffing an extended service might also represent a challenge."

Ignoring the fact that your beloved fine gael are currently helping apple corporation evade tax to the tune of 13 billion + interest.

This current fine gael government are shaping up to be the worst in the countrys history which is really saying something.

        Big thanks to fine gael, obviously too busy working away on apple's tax evasion;

More than 530,000 people are on public hospital waiting lists as the number waiting for outpatient appointments and inpatient procedures rise to record levels, new figures show.

But bravo to you on wanting services at waterford hospital to be downgraded, well done rebel, and sure those waiting for treatment in the south east will really appreciate your input.

Where in my post did I mention downgrading Waterford?? Halligan is pushing for a service when there is a greater need for his population to have money spent on other areas. Why is he obsessed about this rather than highlighting waiting lists, improving surgery or oncology or the biggest single issue improving primary care which until done nothing can improve in EDS and secondary care.

I'm a healthcare professional working in Emergency and I know what a 'Cath lab' is and it's value. I like most in the health field would see that Waterford has a good existing service. A second lab could be built with millions spent on it but the reality is there are not enough nurses or specialists to man it and I guarantee the next argument would be about it lying idle. Waterford, probably due to presence of another parish pump minister has motorway access to both Cork and Dublin and it can't be seen as an insult to the population to suggest there are greater needs and more efficient use of funding in their region.

Both you and Halligan appear to share the view that if an independent inquiry agrees with a decision they have been corrupted. It surely is a no brainer that an inquiry would be furnished with the reasons as to why the service provider reached their decision and then adjudicate independently on it. The biggest issue here seems to be for Halligan to save face and an ego trip. He’s made scurrilous innuendos about interference from cardiologists in Cork and for me has completely crossed the line. I work on a frequent basis with these consultants and they provide a terrific andhumanitarian service to ALL!

A typical deflection that is part of the standard Sinn Fein playbook. All you need to do now is use the phrase 'let's be clear about this' ten times in every sentence and you'll be confirmed as having attended SF communications school. It would explain the TNT part of your username as well.

I'd rate all of the political parties as short term and self interested at best and incompetent at worst.

SF are a special case though. Dangerous, clueless, and deranged. They seem to be able brainwash their followers.

Halligan may be well intentioned but it looks like a face saving demand for me ,why not properly resource the existing Cath service with proper staffing level and requisite ability . Building a second one and not having the money to run it would hardly make sense

Halligan and the Independent Alliance seem to believe that if you agree with them you're right, and if not then you are incompetent, bad etc etc.
Like the AG advised that the Wallace/Daly Foetal Abnormality Bill was unconstitutional and Halligan replied - I don't care about that, I only care about women. So do we all, Halligan, and your time would be better off spent lobbying for legislation to ground the provision for terminations already in our law, via the X Case. Zappone, a person with knowledge in this area, doubts a majority for repeal of the 8th and I'd kinda go with her assessment but then grandstanding is cheap and plays well at home.
Looking for extra goodies for your home area, even if unnecessary, is merely HealyRae-ism, so wear that cap, eh? Now you do not agree with the independent clinical assessment of a specialist brought in from outside the jurisdiction, implying dark motives - once a Sticky conspiracy believer, always one Halligan.
Please resign ''on principle'' and let's have an election based on the present general morass of bull****. You and your mate Lord Ross of Rathdown, the worst holder of his office at Transport ever, are playing to the gallery as usual but you are at cabinet now and maybe the long established constitutional doctrine of collective cabinet responsibility may be followed occasionally? Be careful in resigning though, because Ross would not follow and hungry Stephen Donnelly lurks awaiting an invitation ''in the national interest'', not to mention the likes of Mattie McGrath. The Healy Raes are gob****es but plainly and honestly so, without the veneer of social caring. Somehow, I think you will yet again win the wrestling match with your conscience though, Halligan

That's what the expert report is suggesting. But if I was Hallligan I'd want it in writing and preferably in Harris's blood, as much as it takes.

Have to say I agree with you. When an independent review takes place, and is done competently, I think all parties should abide by the outcome
