    Ferry Query To/From The UK

Friends of mine coming over from the UK for a holiday.

One of them realised they don't have a current passport. They are not the driver.
I said it wont matter as anytime I've traveled on the ferry it's only the driver who got asked for ID.
Am I right in thinking this?

A valid passport is not required for travel between U.K. and Ireland. Photo I.D. of an acceptable type is required. See below.

I've never known any of my passengers (when driving over or back) to be asked for photo ID or any ID of any kind tbh. Only myself as driver has had to show drivers liscence or passport. Anyone as a passenger ever been asked?

I'll tell them to bring photo ID (probably don't have that either *shakes head*).

Travelled over and back by ferry with a group of 6 in April. Only driver was asked for ID
"There are a lot of points that we’ve left behind and this is with a young group. That probably tells you what they’re capable of and that they’re a very good side.

Probably next year or the year after next they will take some stopping"
