Id say sky is well better than chorus. Setanta is good but thats about all you get standard. I was hoping they were expanding in a big way. I heard Chorus and NTL had merged into UPG Ireland or something.

So was hoping for a few new channels all over the province

They will eventually be trading as UPC Ireland. That new channel line up has been released in Cork and Limerick was done either yesterday or will be done in the next day or two, i'm not sure as i haven't turned on the tv myself for a few days. That channel lineup will eventually be released to Chorus/NTL customers around Ireland.

they're also testing DVR at the moment(like sky plus) and will be doing HDTV soon enough too.

Doubt the signal is hitting Munster at the moment, but there are DVB-T trials going on at the moment. If you have a freeview box, dongle, whatever, and an arial you can get the RTEs, TV3 and TG4 off the Three Rock transmitter in digital widescreen with Dolby 2.0 sound and an EPG. There are apparently 15 other channels being broadcast encoded that only the (1000) trial participants can recieve.

Not for a while afaik. They are focusing on the digital cable areas first. North Tipp is Digital MMDS.

So i presume that means Limerick, Cork and big towns first. Is there anyway of finding out their upgrading schedule for everyone outside limerick nd Cork?

I'm pretty sure that I heard Bertie promising last Saturdaythat, if Fianna Fáil was re-elected, 64 channel Chorus digital TVwould be available in every house in Ireland sometime in the next five years.

While we're on the subject of Chorus, I've been having problems with my Ceefax and Teletext over the past few weeks. I only seem to be able to get Aertel and the TV3 versions. What's the story?

AND I'm not getting a wide screen picture on my widescreen TV.
