Not that many compare to her

Sinead O'Connor splits from husband of 16 days

The 'Nothing Compares 2 U' singer - who has been wed three times previously - claims people in her partner Barry Herridge's life stopped the couple, who married at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, from being able to settle into their lives with each other but says they have parted "amicably".

Writing on her official website, she said: "From the moment myself and my husband got together not long ago, there was intense pressure placed upon him by certain people in his life, not to be involved with me. These were people who had never met me but had formed opinions of me based on what they read about 'Sinead 'O'Connor' in the media etc.

"He is a wonderful man. I love him very much. I'm sorry I'm not a more regular woman. I truly believe though it is painful to admit, we made a mistake rushing into getting married, for altruistic reasons, and weren't aware or prepared for the consequences on my husband's life and the lives of those close to him.

"We part amicably. I wish him to be free and happy and loved and supported and for him to have privacy as that is utmost important for his job and for the children he treats as a therapist so I plead on theirs and his behalf for media to please leave him and his family alone. I really beg this."

However, the Irish star admits she is happy with the decision and will continue to be herself and learn from the situation.

She added: "I am in a very good and happy and strong place in life so I am doing fine. The marriage was 16 days. We lived together for 7 days only. Until Xmas eve. And we haven't been awful to each other. So while I feel sad for my husband, and sad to be the cause of sorrow to yet another poor man, I'm also happy that I know we weren't horrible to each other and he is better off free. And that I can be me. (sic)"

Well at least this marriage ended on amicable terms, shows she's slowly but surely getting better at them with practice

Magnificent gesture in 2000 by Sinead. Aljeff is a deserving cause in Limerick. But, sadly, eleven years later, she is irrelevant - I have to explain to my kids that, once, she was a remarkable artist. Now, she has become nothing more than a laughing stock. Sounds like she needs people around her she can trust.

And I'm not particularly interested in posting any more about her.

Well, the fact that she caused a well known scribbler to rant, in public, for over a decade about female injustice to men, does, I suppose indicate a certain mental disposition.

Poor woman really, very talented but obviously has problems, would hope she does find happiness.
It is useless to attempt to reason a man out of a thing he was never reasoned into.

Every plan I have is the best plan in the room. Everybody get quiet and listen to it, and everybody will win

to be honest the biggest thing she needed to do was stop blaming everyone else on the planet for her problems and start taking ownership of her own life, from what I've seen that's still not really changed and until she does that her life ain't going to be stable
