Limerick teens in 'negative stereotype' plan

    Wednesday, 14 March 2007 16:23

A group of teenagers in Limerick are launching an action plan this evening to counter what they call negative stereotyping of the city's youth.

They say the problem stems from a lack of adequate facilities for young people in the city.

The initiative began last summer when around 50 young people aged between 15 and 18 looked at a number of issues that concerned them about life in the city.

The research led to the establishment of the city's first youth café.

Teenagers involved in the project say it shows the benefits of giving young people the chance to affect change in their own communities.
