    [QUOTE=Balla Boy;

The age old passion for the English ruling class to send the working class "over the top" doesn't seem to have abated. [/QUOTE]

Nor has some people’s desire to use hackneyed age old class struggle metaphors.

The data you’re looking at should tell you pretty quickly whether the poor are dying faster than the rich in England, and whether it’s the poor or the rich that the Government is pressing back to work.

You would appear to be in error as regards death rates.

According to both these sites the death rate in Ireland is lower than in Sweden.

Supposed reinfections up to this point have been put down to false negatives and the fact that for some people the virus can linger for a lot longer than two weeks. I'd assume the same here.

False positives most likely explain that imho.

                A few likely facts:

                - the virus does actually convey immunity
                - no reinfection occurs
                - social distancing, hygiene & TTI are the only things that make a difference
                - the Irish government & Nphet are pursuing a confused strategy....

Why would you assume that...in a pandemic situation should you not assume it isn’t, until it has been proven otherwise, and take appropriate precautions?

The usual suspects will inevitably interpret everything the Gov does as some sort of incompetent self serving shambles, unless there's a juicy conspiracy theory available in which case the same politicos miraculously manifest the cunning of the Borgias and the foresight of Nostradamus.
But. At the beginning of this pandemic, no ideal social prevention strategy was agreed on and the nature of it's effects unknown so it's very reasonable to conclude that the Irish Gov adopted a wise and cautious approach. Their efforts are widely applauded by the population and Varadkar, Harris and Holohan have been impressive in their calm and sympathetic leadership. The main concern was the health system, with less ventilators, ICU units etc could be overwhelmed and it could have if we'd tried the perfect stable genius strategy of the loon in the WH.
The idea that they cluelessly panicked and put all their eggs in a Nazi inspired ghetto lock up and are now terrified if being found out, to be brutal, is a projection of an over fevered brain.
In fact, the population trusts their judgement and if they now said evidence suggests we can change tack and the lock down is not needed barring for the vulnerable.........the reality is, they'd get more kudos for their handling.
To be seen as successful is an issue that has been known to flit across a politicians mind from time to time ......
If they don't go for liberated Swedish saunas free for all, my guess is they're not convinced.

Because these type of cases have been investigated in Asia and the conclusion was false negatives rather than new infections.

Virus particles in the lungs that are non viable ( can not replicate) after the body has fought off the disease, can still be detected by the PCR testing giving a false positive.

Is there any public health advise forthcoming on improving your actual health?

With the narrative having gone from requiring restrictions on civil liberties people to "lower the peak", to saying normal life isn't returning until a vaccine is found (not a socially sustainable position imho) you'd think clear advise to populations on significantly improving their immune system and overall health would want to be a key part of any longer term play.
