I was in the Upstairs venue the other night and saw a band called Fred play. Really good gig. They are from Cork and kicking off their tour now so i'd recommend them to anyone.

He's an absolute gent, Matt. Believe it or not, (he's taking this career launch seriously, album in the shops march 2nd) he's off the gargle since the new year, planning a breakout on Paddy's day, (when he plays the olympia).

He was writing back when I knew him and I think he was tipped as the next big thing in the second half of the 90's. Only ever seen him play live once, many moons ago !

Hope the new album is a big success for him though...probably best not to ask him about his time with Gael Linn though...not many of us remember what the hell we were actually up to back then and I'd say Eoin is no different !

I heard a lot about those episodes alright, he fronted Nomas for a few years, and hung around writers clubs in Dublinwith the likes of Gemma Hayes, Paddy Casey, the Frames et al. Has a proper management set up now and is going for it this time, and best of luck to him.

I used to work backstage which was just aswell after drinking till 6am every Saturday and Sunday morning in hotels from Bloody Foreland to Dingle. Eoin was the press officer and actually had to meet people (i.e. local press) and write press releases...poor b*****d !!!

And to think we used to get paid to do this sort of thing...

We made a balls of it, and that's something we've got to live with: Ronan O'Gara. (losing home HC record v Leicester)
