3 days late with Ryanair

The people whose flights from Carcassonne were cancelled on Christmas Eve are reportedly due home today. Some were flown to Stansted on the day by the Company who then sent an unscheduled flight to bring them to Dublin. Anybody know if this passengers' charter is in force yet and if these people are due compensation from Ryanair?

"This was the performance Ireland had been threatening all championship but had only managed to produce in fits and starts. Defeats at the hands of France and Wales had put paid to their title aspirations, never mind a Grand Slam, but yesterday’s emphatic 24-8 win shows that this is a team moving in the right direction."

People should know better than to try and fly anywhere on Christmas Eve. They should also know that when you fly Ryanair you will get what you pay for. There is nothing to stop people taking out travel insurance to cover these eventualities.

Do people expect Ryanair to control the weather now?
It is useless to attempt to reason a man out of a thing he was never reasoned into.

At least they put on a flight for the 9 to Ladyboys Land from Shannon. No tickets for the match obviously.

Glenn Miller thought the US Air Force could.

ryanair have acted quite rightly in this regard imo, however not to arrange some coffee and a few sambos for teh stranded passengers is beyond uncivilised and they should be castigated for it-i mean ffs how much would that have cost to look after the passengers at xmas with a few butties and a couple of drinks?

Let's pretend that we're Mick O'Leary for a moment - a horrible thought I know, but just for a minute. If his staff had arranged food and drink for the stranded passengers, then the media wouldn't have carried much of a story.

However, by treating them like dirt, he got a lot of free (bad) publicity for Scumair. So he's a winner.

still their PR people should be shot-they could have announced passengers were stranded and undergoing much privations etc to the press and then play the white knight for a few thousand quid-this kind of action wont endear them to the pilots pension fund at AL nor anyone else for that matter-micko is clearly smart but he has a few thickos working for him thats obvious

It worked for Thatcher, so why not for the Clongowes Wood boy?

You get (or will get) nada when it's weather caused.

My understanding is that it was caused by schedule disruption which in turn was caused by fog elsewhere. Does this count? The purpose of starting the thread was to find out if the passengers' charter was in vogue and what were the passengers entitled. "Nada" seems to be the consensus.

They'll get nada, especially when they were offered a flight to Stanstead which they (most of them) refused, on the basis that there was no connection. They then laid on a connection for them to get home from Stanstead. No compo coming on this one.
