Ireland 2nd in the world!!

Depending on results this weekend we could find ourselves ranked second in the world. I think that would be a gargantuan achievement and one that should be noted if achieved. I know it depends on results and im always wary of Australia when their wounded. My comment is this. we lost to New Zealand by less in 2 matches and away from home, than France lost by in one match, at home. Should this not mean that we should be ranked ahead of them going into this week. I know they have 6N and all but results against teams ranked higher than you is supposed to earn you more ranking points

Even if we beat OZ I still think we will be 3rd behind the current tour NZ squadfirst and second strings.

      Ranking means absolutely nothing.

My view is we wouldn't beat any of the superpowers away, nor Argentina.

We are a long way from being even contenders.

Not even sure we'd beat England or France right now away to be honest but we might be favored.

I know it means little in the bigger scheme of things and i am nervous about our tour there, what it could do to confidence and the effect it might have on morale leading into the WC but just raising a general question about it and i guess its validity.

BTW:Im not taking the Aussies for granted on Sunday their backs have sawed us apart twice in the last 12mths

I would say 1. All Blacks A, 2. All Blacks B, 3. All Blacks C. 4. Any mixture of above, 5. Ditto etc

couldn't agree more. its the same old story when we get a good win we think we're invincible. i don't think the players are fooled by what apoorteam they beat last weekend and what a step up it'll take to beat the wallibies on sunday. I hope they keep their feet on the ground.

I think people are starting to fall over themselves praising Ireland and the coaching team, especially in the media,

so what if we beat a poor Springbok team, we should have put 50 points on them and stopped them from scoring tries if we really are contenders for the world title

Lets see how we do against the Aussies, I expect an improved and more clinical performance on Sunday, if that happens then perhaps the Irish team has turned a corner

Agree it's early to be saying : "all is forgiven EOS, you're my hero"
Still thought it was a fine performance but for me it'll only be
confirmed by a similar performance against Aus who would seem closer to
                      full strenght.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again (like picking Gordon D'Arcy) and expecting different results.

Agree that a so called ranking means nothing, it wont matter what ranking we are if we cannot get out of our world cup group and have to qualify for the next one again, memories of Lens still with me unfortunately!

Just get on with the rugby, what do the rankings mean anyway.

We beat a poor boks side and sky is the limit.

                          slow down.

TBF we've already lost to Australia this year, until we can consistently beat the Aussies and the French even if we were temporarily upgraded to 2nd we would be pretenders to the position
