Has been with Connacht. Been tearing it up with Buccs in AIL but not made progression to pro14 level and will likely stick to 7s only and not go back to Connacht IMO

I believe ourselves and France were the only 2 nations to have both men's and women's teams finish above their seedings.

Our women 6th from a seeding of 9 losing to the eventual winners and top seeds NZ along with Spain in a tough hard-fought 5th/6th play-off

Our men 9th from a seeding of 16 losing only to the top seeds and bronze medal winning South Africans.

Considering the relatively short space of time the program has been in place plus both teams having key players injured it's a good result and something that can definitely to built upon.

Still grates me that the men f*cked up in Hong Kong and aren't on next year's series. An absolute must for this season is to qualify as a core team before Tokyo 2020

So the men beat Australia (currently fourth in the World Series standings), Kenya (8th in the WS) and Wales (14th in the WS) and lost only to RSA (1st in the WS and bronze medallists in SF).

Between their performances in London, Paris and SF, and their qualification for the WS qualifiers with a tournament to spare, they've had a phenomenal season really. Couldn't have done much better so far. Be good to see them go on to lift the European GP title to round it off.

          Big weekend for Irish 7’s

HK 7’s qualifiers for a place on the world series

Pool games later today (Hong Kong time) so middle of the night for us v Jamaica 12:38 Uruguay 15:43 and Russia on 6/4 10:08

3 pools of 4, top 2 and 2 best placed make the qf’s

Would be surprised if we did not qualify as no 1 or 2 seed for the qf.

Chile, Germany and Russia are the only contenders imho for the place on the 7’s World Series.

Which leads me to why do England, Wales and Scotland get 3 places in the 7’s World Series but can only put 1 team in the Olympic 7’s:

It will be like last yeas as pool stage should be fine and yeah we should be top seed or there abouts
Dont see why England, Wales, Scotland shouldnt have 3 places in world series and only 1 in Olympics. They have depth, players, finance to run separate teams and are individual nations in rugby but that isnt case in Olympics. Just because 7s is in Olympics doesnt mean 2 countries should lose out on playing 7s

Very poor second half sees Ireland draw 26 all with Uruguay... Very, very, very lucky that Uruguay missed the game-winning conversion in front of the posts with the last play
Good things happen to those who wait, though mostly much too late.

Not quite sure what you are saying there - you have to be a 'proper' country to be in the Olympics, that is very unlikely ever for Wales - and not for the time being for Scotland.

Probably next year or the year after next they will take some stopping"
