Change to 6Nations Timing and Format

    A personal opinion -

Acomparison of the revenues generated from the Six Nations with the ERC is required.

Ifit they arecomparable then the SixNationsshould be nenamed the European Nations Cup and played every two years or three years even - preferably alternate years to the rugby world cup. You could have two groups of three starting off playing round robin withthe top two contesting a European final.

As more teams meet the standard the competition could be expanded to two groups of four and so forth. The ultimate goal will be to crown European champions with none of this point difference rubbish that made a joke of this and previous years championships. (The competition invariably goes flat if you reach apoint where no team can do the Grand Slam)

Play it in theAutumn like the World Cup and leave the rest of the season free for club competitions.

I don't have all the figures but the ERC revenues are a lot smaller than the 6N.

The BBC pay £29M per year for the 6 nations coverage while Sky pay around £7M per year for the ERC.

Why would anyone want to change the 6N?

I'm all for moving it towards the end of the season, imagine the 6N being played in weather like this? But apart from that leave it alone.

weather wise the main disadvantage of playing the six nations at the end of the season would be having to play all the HEC knock outs in the less sunny months

You're right...why they want to change such a solid tradition? Money and television wouldn't prevent injuries, tiredness and a lower quality game.

                  Sorry, I totally disagree.

Why on earth would we significantly change the best rugby competition in the world?

I wouldnt be opposed to a few smallish changes, like moving it a month into the spring/summer, but doing things like playing games on Friday or making it a non yearly event are messing too much.

What evidence is there that no team can do the slam anyway? Ireland were agonizingly close this year, and France should have done it.

Have to agree with the if it ain't broke opinions

The only change I would like to see is all three of the final games kicking off at the same time - however this is unlikely to happen.
