Johnson has already been likened to Matt Williams by a Scotish journalist who hopes theres coaching substance to go with the one liners and his humourous soundbites.

france forward squad looks very beefy.
Romain Taofifenua - 139kgs.. wtf? Haven't seen him.. Probably a fat
            useless kant, but still..

That's a bloody strong squad. I'll take it Fofana is being picked as a winger. Can Huget play FB? Fall is the only other option really.
He's a guy who gets up at six o'clock in the morning regardless of what time it is.

His father Willy was a ligind for Grenoble

"There are a lot of points that we’ve left behind and this is with a young group. That probably tells you what they’re capable of and that they’re a very good side.

Probably next year or the year after next they will take some stopping"

A big pack! Chunk's days are past now, and Ford drops to the bench, but the front rows make sense with form picked to start and experience on the bench. Big second rows again with Gray and Hamilton, Kellock on the bench, same as has been picked over the past seasons.

Back row is a change though - gone are the days of playing two 7s with Barclay & Rennie - now it's two 6s with Stroks and Brown! With Denton on the bench, Beattie makes a return - haven't seen him play for Montpelier but heard that some of his past naivety has gone - still remember his great charge up the wing against Ireland at Landsdowne a couple of years back, knocking over POC was it?

Glad to see Laidlaw still in the team, a super attacker; hope that Jackson has got over his 'throw the toys from the pram' tendencies. Lamont is back in the centre - still can't distribute, but still a strong player; interesting to see how Maitland goes - saw him at Edi vs Gla over the New Year and he looked like he was gliding along, ghosting through the Edi defence (though thats not that difficult these days) - tall and upright runner, opposite of Visser with his shark-head.

                    Ho ho ho, Jim Telfer…

“‘The players are a different matter, people like Chris Ashton, Danny Care, Ben Youngs and Manu Tuilagi. They are young, very impressionable and they think what they read is all true.
There is the makings of a good squad, but it is not good at the moment. Like the English football team, a couple of wins and they think they are world-beaters.
Unless they are careful they will end up playing in a very English way. The way Saracens play. Pretty boring. The Northampton way. Boring. It is all about forward domination, and the irony is that England have some bloody good backs.
Because they are English. They have got a problem and they can keep it. They are too arrogant, too pretentious and too condescending to realise they have a problem."

And even if some opinion about Scottish people should appear a little bit harsh and ironically venomous (“In reality they might be largely descended from the Picts who tend to comprise the dark Scots. The harshness of life in ancient Scotland, relying on fishing and the sea for survival with the 11 month Scottish winter made them pessimistic, dour and tending to expect the worst.”, copyright Miss McG… ), I think I love them.

PS: And about arrogance, Jimmy should have spoken about my mates too… Would be deserved.
PS: Please, don't feel offended, Miss McGahan, I only tease you...

"To be energetic and self-sufficing is to be happy; but while one desire remains in the heart happiness may not come there. For to desire is to be incomplete: it is the badge of dependence, the signal of unhappiness, and to be freed from that is to be freed from every fetter that can possibly be forged." (James Stephens, Deirdre)

                        6 Nations other matches thread.

Italy, before KO in Rome, are gonna present every previous capped player they have with a ceremonial cap. On the pitch. If you're dead your relative will represent you. It's over 600 men. One is 90 years old. They'll give France a rattle after that!
