Your team for the Saxons? Team post #23

O2 IRELAND WOLFHOUNDS Squad (v England Saxons):
    Stephen Archer (Cork Constitution/Munster) *
    Isaac Boss (Terenure College/Leinster)
    Gavin Duffy (Galwegians/Connacht)
    Chris Henry (Ballymena/Ulster)
    Denis Hurley (Cork Constitution/Munster)
    David Kearney (Lansdowne/Leinster) *
    Ian Keatley (Young Munster/Munster)
    Ronan Loughney (Galwegians/Connacht) *
    Ian Madigan (Blackrock College/Leinster) *
    Mike McCarthy (Buccaneers/Connacht)
    Kevin McLaughlin (St. Mary's College/Leinster)
    John Muldoon (Galwegians/Connacht)
    Tomas O'Leary (Dolphin/Munster)
    Eoin O'Malley (Old Belvedere/Leinster) *
    Rhys Ruddock (St. Mary's College/Leinster)
    Mike Sherry (Garryowen/Munster) *
    Nevin Spence (Ballynahinch/Ulster) *
    Devin Toner (Lansdowne/Leinster)
    Dan Tuohy (Ballymena/Ulster)
    Damien Varley (Garryowen/Munster)
    Brett Wilkinson (Galwegians/Connacht) *
    Simon Zebo (Cork Constitution/Munster) *

The squad's actually more surprising for who's left out, no Marshall, McSharry, POM, Hagan, Gilroy, Whitten, TOH. You'd think this game is made for someone like POM, last chance to impress before the 6 nations.

    Team could be something like
    Wilkinson Varley Archer
    Touhy McCarthy
    Muldoon Henry Ruddock
    Boss Keatley
    Zebo TOL Spence Kearney
    Duffy

Ok, the TOL thing is massively unlikely but are either EOM or Spence all that great at 12? Similarly, I can see the logic in giving TOL time to find form, but Marshall has form so why not include him. We know isn't rated that highly and is unlikely to play for Ireland in the 6 nations, whereas down the line Marshall might.
It is useless to attempt to reason a man out of a thing he was never reasoned into.

Every plan I have is the best plan in the room. Everybody get quiet and listen to it, and everybody will win

Marginal calls between Madigan/Keatley and Boss/TOL. Kearney/Gilroy Keatley is the better all round outhalf for me.

Hopefully the hype wont go to Zebo's head.

Gilroy isn't in the squad for some reason.

Can hype go to a Cork person's head? How would that work? They are born hyped up to the last.

I was just going to type this same team.... nice one....

decent team - powerful back row....
He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck either, but a real duck that was actually lame. Maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.

Apologies Gilroy is tackling bags for the week. Really and truly Kidney should be made explain that one. It is an absolutely scandalous call in my opinion.

Dave Kearney then. Nothing between them. I just think Gilroy has a better nose for a try but even thats tight between them.

Is it 22 man squads? Annoyed with myself that I only spotted the game was down the road in Exeter last week and am already stuck doing something I can't get out of. Only problem is likely to be at Scrum time as the Connacht fellas struggled a bit against Quins who are not the strongest scrummaging side. Apart from that, the Wolfhounds is a fecking strong side; I can remember days when that would have whipped the Irish first team!!!

Power and pace in that backline, wouldn't be so sure about the forwards compared to us though

@ Ormond ladBurns plays for Glaws. Decent player, will look to get the backlinie moving. Not particulalry strong lad, wouldnt see him as being full international standard.

Strong English team particularly back three, Denis Hurly isn't a better full back than Duffy or Kearney.
