English Supporters And Sweet Chariot

The song Swing Low Sweet Chariotwas a song sung be the black slaves in the Southern states of America hundreds of years ago how and why did it become a song sung by the English Rugby supporters anybody know ???

    No idea.

The songs supporters sing don't necessarily have naything to do with the team. F.O.A for example?

There used to be an obscene Rugby version, with actions, very English lavatorial humour(?), think it probably evolved from that.

Interesting, never realised it was such a recent addition.

I was told by a Welshman that it was all to do with racism at the beginning. I wonder whether it has been "rehabilitated" like the Union flag and St. George's flag have been.
