    Murphy gone

With so many threads not sure if anybody has picked up on this yet,

no sign of Geordie in the extended squad.

The following players have been added to the squad for training this week:

    Backs: Tommy Bowe (Belfast Harlequins/Ulster),
Barry Murphy (UL Bohemians/Munster), Rob Kearney (UCD/Leinster), Danny
    Riordan (Galwegians/Connacht).

    Forwards: Trevor Hogan (Shannon/Leinster), Jamie
Heaslip (Clontarf/Leinster), Stephen Ferris (Dungannon/Ulster), Bryan
Young (Ballymena/Ulster), Roger Wilson (Belfast Harlequins/Ulster).

The training session, scheduled for Monday morning, has been moved
to the afternoon to allow for rehab sessions for the Irish squad.

The squad will disperse on Tuesday afternoon with the non-playing
members and the replacements against England being released back to the
provinces to be available for Magners League action next weekend.

Next Sunday will see the players reassemble at the team hotel in Killiney, ahead of the Scottish game.

I doubt that Leicester would have released him this week.

there was an interview posted elsewhere in the forum (can't remember where) in which he stated he had given his 2 tickets to his parents, and wasn't sure if he'd watch the game in Ireland, Uk or further afield..

Those not just players being added to the extended squad, for training purposes? AFAIK Murphy is already in the extended squad.

What's the situation onforeign players being released during 6N. I guess if the English clubs won't release all English players then they won't release the Irish ones? What about Easterby? Also how come if he was out Murphy didn't play for Leicester instead?

On a seperate note altogether Tigers were woeful against the Saints.

Yep, no way the tigers would send him over to Dublin for a day or 2 of training.......he will surely be back in the squad for the scotland game.....

I know its early, but does any1 think EOS should try a few new options V Scotland? They are in very bad form, and it could be a useful game to blood 1/2 new players, with an eye on the world cup. Id like to see Trimble get a game in the centre for starters...

Why willMurphy be back for the Scotland game? Is someone injured?

I doubt eddie will play second strings for a triple crown decider.

If he's sensible EOS will go for the jugular against Scotland. Start laying down markers and maybe even pick up the championship by default if France slip up. We have several pre WC games to experiment in and I believe most here want the first up players rested from those Argentina games so the reserves will get their chances. This is serious rugby and I for one think we should see just how much damage we can do against Scotland and Italy as a bench mark of where we are.

it doesn't reflect well on Murphy to not have attended the Engliah match. It doesn't show much of a team spirit, does it ?

i know if were him i'd want to be at home as well - he wasn't involved on the day - best to get out of there rather than hanging around like a spare tyre - anybody who's played knows what i'm talking about. anyway he should be in the 22 in my view.
