So Spain and Romania are appealing the decision re player eligibility.

Spain is appealing the decision of the independent Disputes Committee which: (i) decided that the match between Belgium versus Spain should not be replayed; and (ii) found that two ineligible players were fielded during the European Rugby World Cup 2019 qualification process.

“While admitting to a breach of World Rugby Regulation 8 relating to fielding an ineligible player who was previously captured by another union, Romania has confirmed that it is appealing the sanction,” read a statement from World Rugby.

Being heard on Friday. Germany and Portugal are due to play their playoff on June 16 to decide who faces Samoa in the 2 leg playoff for the RWC spot. 1st leg scheduled for June 30.

Would be nice if Germany wins. They could use some good news after Heidelberg was rejected for next years Challenge Cup.

They won't have the Heidelberg players though in another club v country dispute.

Hard to see anyone but Canada qualifying. Unless Germany can produce a major shock next week!
Kenya looked decent in attack but absolutely abysmal in defence.
Good things happen to those who wait, though mostly much too late.

It's interesting going into the tournament, Hong Kong were the best ranked side (21), then Canada at 23, Kenya at 28 and Germany at 29.

Yeah would be very surprised. Cant see Germans making it considering they only got to this stage due to all ineligible players in european nations cup games

In fairness to the Germans their results went down the drain when Wild pulled off his academy squad. They might have got to the repechage properly it their firsts had been available for the whole ENC games. Same firsts who were made available for the repechage tournament so who knows! Still think Canada will have too much for them though

I don't think you can read too much into the rankings. HK and Kenya don't get enough meaningful games to make the ranking relevant. Canada get a mixed bag with some whippings from the big boys every year and then a mix of games against other tier 2 often without their front line players. The ranking for the ENC teams should be fairly accurate as they get regular competitive games against teams of a similar standard - but as others have said Germany's ranking is skewed by the infighting between the Union and Wild
