A comprehensive humping. End of an era for the Ireland old guard. Time for a crop of new faces and new tactics now.
    N.Z are a superb team.

POM was probably our best player today but he was so far inferior to his opposite number (just like everyone else on the team).
You need to change your nom de plume now.

The coach is dead. Long live the coach.

New tactics but let's not clear out players just for the sake of it

Really disappointing, an era which delivered so much ultimately wilted at the most important moments.

Hard to feel like this wasn't a team and tactic penciled in from Novermber 2018 and stuck to rigidly. Too many of the old guard declined in the meantime and exposed Schmidt's weakness in adapting the plan.

Some poor/ pointless kicking by Joey, but a very neat grubber that ought to have lead to a try. Needed to play more to develop a settled approach. Ten is a control position, playing erratically isn’t control. Has a big season ahead of him, he needs to justify being be Munster’s starter.

Let’s not hang on to players for the sake of it either. There’s nothing we saw today, nothing we saw this year, that justifies being kept.

So we definitely peaked too early, that's not really something that a country with our resources can do much about really. We can't sacrifice 6N chances to build in the way that England might. Mental side of the preparation was not right and I don't know how long we will have to wait to get this QF monkey off our backs.

Anyway, attention back now to Munster and the European Cup. Tough group but at least Larkham and Rowntree will have a but more time with the full squad before the first pool match. The RWC lads will need to get back up on the horse now and sow it into the moneybags.

You can say a lot about that, coaching, strategy, players, etc. But there is something fundamentally flawed in the soft underbelly of Irish rugby culture.

Sad end in a way for schmidt but his big fault was being too loyal in last 2 years ,some on field I think were lucky be there.Best is retiring and has had some great days in green .
hard to see a future for Kearney or Sexton going forward in green ,both totally out of it today .
NZ were ruthless but we were abysmal in truth ,totally out thought out fought and outclassed in practically every facet of the game.
even the hope of one last hurrah or one off victory was snuffed out early and we never recovered.

His kicking was unusually poor- in fact it was awful from everyone. Too many that were simply too long and gave no chance of competing. More sniping runs from him today, as someone here anticipated, passing was ok- but wasn’t as crisp as in earlier games. He is simply not the player of a couple of years ago, but I’m very happy to have him starting for us for a while yet.
