[QUOTE=Daithi;n2573449]Looks like the lawmakers have reduced the tmo's role, apparently to try to make the game run more fluently with less tmo interventions. Stuart Barnes writes well about this in this week's Sunday Times.

This is a mistake imho, that will lead to more unchecked cavalier challenges (e.g. ugly cleanouts, shoulder charges, hits to head & neck areas) and overall lower player welfare, as players cop on that they are not being scrutinised as much as heretofore....

Silly, really stupid silly actually imho, surely there was a way to get tmo to check stuff offline, in parallel with play, and intervene only when they thought appropriate....

Agree with a lot of this- while the TMO getting more involved was intrusive, some referees managed to keep control of the game, chat to the TMO, and make a decision about stopping the game, while others seemed to let the TMO referee the game for them. The point of policing the laws, and penalising, is to prevent foul play/illegality, she. Teams know infringements will always be detected they will learning to okay within the laws. It will take some time for teams to adjust, but they will, and we have to persevere with the system and get officials better at using it seamlessly.

England going a bit experimental. Wales, at near full strength, would want to win this one or questions will be asked.

He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck either, but a real duck that was actually lame. Maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.
