    McFadden cited for his headbutt

Makes me wonder if we shouldn't do the same by i.e. adding an attack coach.
Replacing a guy heading to a national role with someone already very successful in a national role is very serious statement - and as you say, presumably, costly. Whether motivated by money, or wanting to established track records, there’s a huge difference in Leinster and Munster’s coaching ticket. Anyone know how these positions are financed?

Fogs to Ireland is a big step up for the guy, and hopefully with his Munster, Connacht as well as Leinster experience - his working across provinces role will go smoothly.

With his previous record of being cited and the nature of the incident it’s hard to see him playing again this season.

Presumably they can’t / won’t announce the venue as Treviso will surely be in the RDS while a Munster semi might be in the aviva....

Lancaster probably wasn’t all that expensive. Remember he was kind of in the wilderness and he doesn’t seem like the type to be demanding megabucks. I’d say he’s on a decent wedge but no more than JVG.

Contepomi wouldn’t be pricey either because he’s not that experienced. Similar to Fla or Felix most likely. His personal connection with Leinster was probably a big draw for him.

McBryde will not be cheap, but that’s probably the one guy they’re really splashing out on.

What Leinster also have is a recent track record of success and a proven infrastructure to deliver more. Very attractive to coaches, just as it is to players, cos they can see real potential to win trophies.

We don’t have that but we do still have a big brand and some world class players so we shouldn’t struggle to attract top coaches.

I’d love to see us move JVG to a DoR role and bring in ROG as head coach with chief responsibility for our attack. I think he’d be the ideal guy to introduce the sort of skills-based attacking ethos he’s seen in NZ. He knows Munster well enough and has the respect to be able to implement it too.

Can the ref be cited too for his incompetence?

Are the current crop of Leinster youngest up to it given this record?

They had a similar finish to the regular season last year (one win from four). It's difficult to assess given they were fielding understrength teams against opposition that were largely first choice and still had something tangible to play for (Ulster aside). I think a few players put their hands up and showed some good form, others not so much.

                    Anyway, confirmed departures from the Senior Squad at the end of the season;

                    Jack McGrath (Ulster)
                    Nick McCarthy (Munster)
                    Sean O'Brien (London Irish)
                    Noel Reid (Leicester)
                    Tom Daly (Connacht)
                    Mick Kearney (??)
                    Ian Nagle (??)

So, a not-Leinster outfit for next season, could read:

                      Conway
                      Healy
                      Farrell
                      Reid
                      Adeolokun
                      Carbery/Madigan
                      Cooney/McCarthy
                      McGrath
                      Delahunt
                      Moore
                      Thornbury
                      Roux
                      Murphy
                      Beirne
                      O'Brien

Ian has played for 3 provinces now. How many others have played for 3 or more? Sean Cronin, Ian Keatley, others?
John Fogarty too, and maybe one of the Blaney hookers?

                            2 sherry/cronin/casey

                            8 Butler

must be more Shirley - maybe more in 2nd tiers e.g. Nottingham?

Not a chance. They didn't fill the RDS last year
