but Joe dropped Zebo as soon as he made his announcement. The main difference in situation is that Joe never liked Zebo's approach, whereas he has always loved SOB's.

I would have thought the situation was more analogous to Paul O'Connell at the last RWC.

He did indeed. Dropped him immediately.

We'll see more of his B/S now when Sean isn't dropped. And before any fanboys start, yes he is an exceptional coach with a excellent track record as Irish coaches go, but that doesn't mean he's not prone to B/S at times.

Would have liked to see Sean get a better offer, the guy is an excellent player, top drawer. He sure has struggled with injuries but he's well worth it on his day.

Irish Times reporting that SOB will play on for Ireland beyond the RWC, once he’s based at London Irish. Zebo must be annoyed to say the least

You could nearly map out Sob season the last 5/6 years.

Start in October for interpros & 1st rounds of European Cup, make squad for November play 1 game injured. Get back for interpro around Christmas play some of rounds 5/6 in Europe, play 1 game 6 nations injured.

He’s averaged 5/6 games a year for leinster going back 5/6 years now.

The IT is reporting no such thing. They just say that unlike Zebo and similar to POC, he won’t be discarded immediately.

Once he’s over there he’ll be done as an international but crucially, like POC and unlike Zeebs, he’s sticking around until the RWC. Moving abroad afterwards is effectively retiring from international rugby and that makes sense given his age, injury profile and competition for the shirt.

All these people kicking off about Zeebs have to recognise that he decided to leave well before the RWC and knew well what he was doing. Sure, Joe could have picked him for one more 6Ns but, given the focus on the RWC, that would have given valuable game time to a lad that wasn’t sticking around to see things through to the end of the cycle. It was a pragmatic decision.

I like Zebo and I think he’s the best 15 available to us but he made his bed. He chose to go for the money and the life experience abroad and fair play to him but nothing comes for free.

Leinster team to play Zebre tomorrow in Italy. KO 2.30pm (irish time). Live on Eir Sports.

                  15 Dave Kearney; 14 Adam Byrne, 13 Rory O'Loughlin, 12 Conor O'Brien, 11 Barry Daly; 10 Ross Byrne, 9 Jamison Gibson-Park; 1 Jack McGrath, 2 James Tracy, 3 Andrew Porter; 4 Ross Molony, 5 Scott Fardy (c); 6 Josh Murphy, 7 Max Deegan, 8 Caelan Doris.

                  16 Bryan Byrne, 17 Peter Dooley, 18 Michael Bent, 19 Mick Kearney, 20 Jack Dunne, 21 Hugh O'Sullivan, 22 Noel Reid, 23 Jimmy O'Brien

Down to the bare bones in the back-row and the one selected looks quite unbalanced. Decent enough team for the time of year otherwise.

Leinster went into a 21-0 lead after 21 mins away at Zebre . Three tries to Blues. The Italian side then got a yellow card when they decided to start playing. They replied with 3 tries of their own.

19-21 is the score at half time. Game on

"There are a lot of points that we’ve left behind and this is with a young group. That probably tells you what they’re capable of and that they’re a very good side.

Probably next year or the year after next they will take some stopping"

Anthony Foley, May 2016. Axel RIP

Finished 24-40. Never in doubt. Tries for Deegan (2), Ross Byrne, Dave Kearney, Fardy and O'Brien.

An absolutely shocking performance to be honest. I'm not sure even one player comes out of the game with credit in the bank.

Toulouse won away to Racing. Repeat of that in HCup and Leinster will have home semi....if they can beat Ulster.

Well that's RobK's chances of re-signing after the RWC knocked back, they've a backup to Lamour at 15
