Racing Metro 92 & Stade Francais Merger...

    Is it April 1st?

O'Gara with the drop at goal, has gone between the posts! Ronan O'Gara, between the posts! After about 145 phases! O'Gara between the posts!

Quite a development. Looking to create a France qualified team, reinforced with a few international stars. Would have serious financial muscle and a big support base, if the fans are happy with the merger that is.

Major kit row in the offing :-)
"We will not walk in fear, one of another. We will not be driven into an age of unreason if we dig deep into our history and remember we are not descended from fearful men" Edward R Murrow

"Little by little, we have been brought into the present condition in which we are able neither to tolerate the evils from which we suffer, nor the remedies we need to cure them." - Livy

"I think that progress has been made by two flames that have always been burning in the human heart. The flame of anger against injustice and the flame of hope that you can build a better world" - Tony Benn

Crazy.. ROG in or out next season is my first question

Lot of players will out of contract too one presumes.

Time to follow suit and merge Shannon and Garryowen?

This is incredible news though... anyone have a rough translation, where are they going to play?
it will be a powerful team, wih all the cream of french players kept.. and a few external superstars...

Why can Paris only support 1 major team, is all the rugby support really in the south of the country.. They only have 1 professional football team too, PSG...

Will apparently play at the new stadium R92 are building - Arena92. A lower tier Paris soccer side are moving into SF's place. Has a huge impact on Grenoble - will now have a chance of staying up - playoff v the loser of the D2 Playoff final apparently

Going to play at new Racing stadium

I find it a bit tragic, myself and few other lads go every May to the Top 14 semi finals (both semi's are played on successive days in one ground)

Last year in Rennes, Racing won one the most compelling games of rugby I had the honour to witness

While the fans of Racing or Stade would occasionally rub you up the wrong way (always preferred the Clermont fans) they bring a bit of variety and dare I say it glamour to the matches.. flash bastards and proud of it!

                    Sad day if true

There is something very wrong with the culture of the game in a country when the last two winners of its top competition feel the need or desire to merge together.

The rivalry between these two should be too intense to ever even contemplate such a thing. What a totally absurd situation.

Interesting that Stade's last home game is v R92...commented on twitter about possible conflict of interest if either side need the win to make the playoffs/stay out of the bottom 2.

What if they play each other in the semi of the boucles?
