Do hope the Unions hold their ground and let the English & French clubs go . There is a opportunity to reorganise the game in the NH , with everything on the table from calendar , Lions , international tours and mid week Provincial matches against touring sides. A proper development plan for European nation sides both at international but also Provincial level . There is 5 mil to make up from loss of HC, an extra Int fixture , Provinces to play touring sides mid week and a new HC competition would go a long way to generating the needed funds . The 6ns is the biggest money generator for the Celtic unions and huge for the RFU & FFF it is the one competition that has to be protected at all costs the HC is no where near as important . Believe it is time to cut out the gangrene and sever the links with the clubs.

Now to have an new competition the clubs needs permission from their Union. So the RFU and the FFR only. If your team would like to join it, they would have to have a permission from IRFU. But our clubs don't have to ask IRFU.
But the English and French clubs do need the permission of the IRB for any new cross border competition.

Additional field corners would suit 'Munster Rugby legendball' IMO.

        More corners for kicking.

Jos, you are making less and less sense as you go on. The Celtic league nations wanting to prevent the destruction of the ERC and a breakaway formation that would be in direct conflict with their best interests is completely different from FFR instructing our league, or for instance the IRFU instructing the PRL competition.

And by the way. The ( woman?) you prefer to the stunningly beautiful Isabelle Ithurburu looks like Kevin Costner in drag. :what:

Theres only a few things in life which you can be 100% certain of,

1 Leinster fans will crib about Keith Earls no matter what he does

2 The french will do what is best for the french and not a second thought will be given to anyone else.

Seriously would turn a blind eye to the Kevin Costner bit for a crack at it.

I would prefer if the Pro12 teams just said no thanks and walked away. If the Franglos want to do things on their terms only then let them do it by themselves.

Restructure the season here, play one or two more internationals, lower the squad sizes and keep the conveyor belt of academy talent running and it will be fine. Have a 'must play in Ireland to play for Ireland' rule to stop players leaving. If some players get offered mega deals to go then let them off. I'd prefer to see an isolated Pro12 than a European cup run like club dominated soccer where everyone gets more money (which the PRL boasts about) but the top clubs get a far greater share which makes them better which means they get more money and so it goes on. Wait until the Franglos come back with a proper offer.

Jos I wouldn't be too confident on the FFR or RFU signing off on any tournament. If they do then they're going to lose a lot of money, money that they need for grassroots rugby. England have improved their underage structures over the past number of years but a reduction in money will mean a backwards step and you'll have less English playing in the English league. The French underage structures are a bit of a mess and their underage sides have low technical ability. Not to mention the IRB.

Irish provinces rule out joining new competition. That was quick. LINK

                    Interesting titbit from the article:

"The RFU and French Rugby Federation have already confirmed that there will be no new company other than ERC to run European competitions," Boyle told the Independent on Sunday. "It is unequivocal that the negotiation of TV and other rights is central and it's done by ERC. The IRFU are bound into ERC and that restricts completely the movement of Leinster, Munster, Ulster and Connacht."

                      Hold on: Top14 - 14 teams. AP - 12. Pro12 - 12.

Two tournaments of 20 teams supposed to be coming from those three leagues only, to be played in 2014/15 based on league finishing - i.e., on 2013-14 finishes. 40 teams needed from this year's Pro12, AP and T14.

                      14+12+12=38

There aren't forty teams in the league supplying this supposed tournament. They're short.

Their own scheme hasn't enough teams to play it. They never did their sums.

You'd have thought BT would have stretched to a calculator, wouldn't you?

I never said they would agree. I just said that if FFR and RFU agree, you shouldn't rely on the IRB to stop it. (although legally they could). But the assumption the FFR agrees, is dead:http://www.rugbyrama.fr/rugby/coupe-...18/story.shtml

Then why do the LNR and the EPL want to influence how teams qualify from the Rabo? and why are they inviting teams from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Italy to play in their new league?

There is a difference between willing to and be able to.
